Norman Bicycle
I just bought a Norman bicycle and I'm trying to find a little more info about it. Google doesn't bring up a lot of info and I have no idea on the age or model. Can anyone give me some tips on how to find out what I have here. I can take more pictures from different angles if you think that will help. Everything appears to be in great shape, athough I'm not sure what's orginal and what's not. This is my first vintage bike purchase and I'm looking forward to bringing this beauty back to life! Thanks for the help.

Bikes: 1940s Fothergill, 1959 Allegro Special, 1963? Claud Butler Olympic Sprint, Lambert 'Clubman', 1974 Fuji "the Ace", 1976 Holdsworth 650b conversion rando bike, 1983 Trek 720 tourer, 1984 Counterpoint Opus II, 1993 Basso Gap, 2010 Downtube 8h, and...
There should be a date on the rear hub. A group of two digits next to a group of one or two digits. Something like 65 8 would mean August, 1965.
The Norman company was originally independent factory at Ashford in Kent, was bought up by TI in the 50's. After TI bought Raleigh around 1960 they closed most of the other factories, including Norman. After that, Raleigh continued to make some bikes with the Norman name. I believe you have one of those. If that's the case, your bike should have a Raleigh serial number, and is basically a no-frills version of the Raleigh Sports.

Looks like the Raleigh built version. Still a nice bike to ride on.

Thanks for the replies. After looking up the Raleigh Sport you're correct mine looks identical. The hub says July '71. I was able to take it for a ride tonight and I can't believe how smooth everything shifts and rides for sitting in storage for 30 years, even the lights work perfectly. Thanks again for the help.
