Looks lots better Aaron. Yes!... one of those aluminum spacers about 3/8 - 1/2 thick at the chain stay bridge might nail the rear. Lemme know if I can send you something. You're real close though.
This is some bike. I agree.... you might as well retire now. You've reached C&V Nirvana. |
Is there ever a true retirement when something like this comes around? I'd love to give a spacer a try if you have something that might work.

I love going back and looking at these pics over and over. I see more each and every time: amazing how well that chrome has stood the test of time, for instance. Btw, Aaron: if I were you I'd pull that post and see what kind of creepy critters may have used that "door" and subsequently taken up residence in your seat tube  DD |
Ha! I hope they liked frame saver.
The Picchio isn't a grabber like this one, but it's just as impressive in its way. |

This is a good point; I should replace that silly post, but it's part of the bike's history and character.

Really nice Cinelli. I do agree with some of the others, the fenders aren't right for the bike, either in color or fit. I think they're a little distracting and it take away from how nice the bike actually is. They're a good excuse to find another Cinelli, though!
|
Yep - the fenders aren't painted the same color as the frame. The fit got a lot better sliding the wheel back and I've seen a lot worse...I think the color actually compliments better in person. Someone dedicated to perfection as defined by convention will find fault...I am not that person (though I do appreciate the advice). I do think that adding a spacer can improve the rear.

I very much like the mudguards on the bike and find that they compliment the rest of the bike very well. The rear brake bridge on this particular frame is not set at the perfect height for this particular set of mudguards but it is off so little that I would not worry. The only way that you could get it to fit perfectly would be to either move the brake bridge which would be silly or take a dremel to the mudguard and cut into it to form around the brake bridge, or put in a slight dent.

I think the pump painted to match will really tie it together (Robbie - THANKS for suggestion!).
|
Well, painting the Silca to match the metalic green is proving to be difficult/cost prohibitive, but the chrome looks good and 27c tires did a lot for the fender line...

Love it!
Is that padded cotton tape, or cork? If cotton, I like to use wood glue on the ends (rather than tape). Might be worth giving a try.. |
Really looks good.
well done! |
Thanks! Where you been? Everything copacetic?

If so, all is well. Just been really busy with work for the past couple months, and any bike time was dedicated to L'Eroica :) Looking forward to a winter of finishing basement projects, and prepping for L'Eroica Britannia in June. |
I need to go to one of those - sounds fantastic.
|
Keeps getting better and better Aaron, those 27's look great.
And bibliobob, congrats on making the Eroica, and have fun at the Brittish Eroica (Brittanica?). I'm looking forward to joining that event, but not sure what I'll be doing next june. |
