Columbus tubing with recessed cable routing?
A fellow on a cycling forum I use in Ireland is trying identify his bike. Reckons it's columbus Aelle tubing. It has pretty interesting tubing that I don't instantly recognise and though someone here would be able to help us narrow it down.
(he took these upside down for some reason)
Thanks for any ideas!

I doubt the tube was drawn that way. What is more likely is that the framebuilder cut a longitudinal slit in the top tube and welded or brazed a half-round length of much smaller diameter tubing inside the top tube before assembling the frame.
Just a guess, though. Clever.

I have two bikes with similar routing: a Vittorio and a Zieleman. Both are custombuilt high end bikes using Columbus tubing.

Cheers lads. I looked into Vittorio and it seems they used that form of routing quite often. I've asked the owner to hunt for any sign of pantographing.
