Bikes: A green one, "Ragleigh," or something.
I have a fixie, as well as more than a dozen geared bikes. My geographical location dictates serious hills unless I want to limit myself to about eight miles of mostly flat waterfront trail. My 4 mile commute home, for example, nets me more than 1100 ft elevation gain.
It ain't the Texas plains, lets put it that way.
My fixed gear bicycle is basically a toy, like every other fixed gear bicycle in town (there aren't very many, for obvious reasons). It's pretty fun on that one stretch of 8 miles, though.

I've decided to become a snob...Conversions with RD hangers suck! Wanna ride fixed gear? Get something with track ends or Chater Lea dropouts....Wanna do it right, make sure it's got eyelets for fenders too and hang a bell on it......if it ain't British and ain't been through a war, something's wrong with it

41x15. Yes, I know 41 is a weird size but I bought it as part of a misguided attempt to make a magic gear FG road bike conversion. But it is a pretty good quality ring and since it's on my SSCX bike I am not too concerned if it gets chewed up.

I'm a snob's snob, ride a Pogliaghi Pista on the track... and prefer a pint of bitter or a nice single malt.

Thanks! Sadly, the dog was on short-term loan from my sister. He's a sweetheart though.

Snobs rejoice! Fortunately there is one builder who knows what's what.
A modern Path Racer can be ordered bespoke, built to your exact specs w/ track ends, mudguard fittings and whatever doo-dads are required. Long live Blighty!

"Mercian Cycles began in Derby in 1946 and are still building bespoke lightweight steel frames, by hand, using traditional frame-building methods with one craftsman building each frame from start to finish."

Whether you choose to call them fixed gear or "fixie", are they really such a mark of honor and wisdom and maturity and sophistication?
After all, most of the wheelchair geezers in Wal-Mart could be said to riding fixies...

It is a simple, elegant and efficient style of cycling pared of the excess of modern appliances. Try it.

Built one Fixed Gear bike and spent some time riding another. Fixed Gear bicycles are not for me.
I like the option of multiple gearing. I love, absolutely love, the feel of freedom, as I coast down, across, and even up sometimes. Anyway, each to his own and, for what it is worth "dude" or "dudette", I prefer much of the younger generation's language, when compared to Shakespear's old and flowery manner of speaking, and writing. Of course, that is just me.
All that said, each to his own. Personally, I don't criticize the other guy, or gal, for being the way they are.
