"Adblock" and "Spybot" are essentials for me anymore (I use Firefox browser). I picked up something when I downloaded an MOV re-encoder (didn't even need it 'cause I already had a good one that I had forgotten about). It turned out to be some crappy ad magnet and those two freewares pretty much either put a stop to it or allowed me to block annoying ads.

If you pay for forum subscription, you will not get any pop-ups. Well worth the few bucks, plus I assume it helps a lot to maintain the site...

I had those pop-ups all over the site until I installed AdBlock Plus on my browser (Chrome). No ads anymore.

I haven't had pop-up ads, but occasionally, the banner on the right side will expand out to about 7/8 of the screen. That makes the thread about one or two words per line, if they are short words. When I go to another page, everything is normal.

^This^, I had that happen once today, it was the first time.

I have had pop-up issues in the past, but that somehow took care of itself. It was maddening I have to say.

It is easy to get rid of the pop up adds. You do not need any extra programs to do it. Go to Google and type in that you have add popping up. There you will find how to stop them within the browser that you are using. In chrome you go to setting. Follow the direction The adds will go away. I did it for IE and chrome.
