Anyone know what make of bike this is?
I picked this rather neglected bike up recently and I'm intending to restore it but sadly all the badge work has been removed. I think it may be late 1970s and has Shimano 600 derailleurs, Weinmann Alpha side pull brakes and Takagi Tourney crankset. The wheels aren't matching. Looks like it had squarish badges on the head, forks and top back of seat tube. Looks similar to Motobecanes of this period but not convinced.

Possibly a Euro brand, as some of them (like the Japanese-built, Piaggio-era Bianchis) used that 600 drivetrain gruppo with much-improved brake calipers of another brand.
Sorry, but I'm no serial-number expert.
What might give someone (familiar with this unknown brand) a clue are the odd rack braze-ons on each seatstay.
Also, Nishiki at times used European parts like hubs and rims on some of the 1980's bikes, so looking at those Weinmann calipers, this might even be one of those.

My first thought was Motobecane as well, because of the head badge, the color, the fork crown. But I'm not convinced either. Anyway, here's my '79 Grand Record for comparison.

Lovely looking bike, if mine ends up looking half as good as that I'll be delighted. It does look similar and the badge shape seems to match but I can't find any Motobecanes with the braze on rack stays.
Thanks for your info, I'll keep looking and will try checking out some more Motobecanes.

Have look at T-Mar's Motobecane Serial Number Database. Your S/N does not seem to fit in.
