Guess this tool!

Found this in a box of assorted bicycle parts at Trexlertown a couple of weeks ago. Neither the seller or myself know what it was used for or even if it’s bicycle related. Box had among other miscellany a cottered crank set. Any guesses?

No idea, but I'd love to know as well.

okane 10-25-13 10:51 AM

Probably obvious, but I should mention that the "hook" end swivels

toytech 10-25-13 10:58 AM

some kind or seal or bearing puller would be my guess.

DiegoFrogs 10-25-13 10:58 AM

Perhaps some kind of tire jack?

okane 10-25-13 04:06 PM

Should have included this in the OP....13 inches long, hook about 4.5, and no markings of any kind

That's one heck of a beer bottle opener. :thumb:

gerv 10-25-13 07:05 PM

Definitely a tire jack of the sort that would not disintegrate mounting a Schwalbe Marathon Plus.

Chombi 10-25-13 07:27 PM

Ass hatchet saddle extractor.....?

peter_d 10-25-13 07:42 PM

Something chain related?

BluesDaddy 10-25-13 07:57 PM

Would that put a dimple in a chainstay?

gaucho777 10-25-13 11:22 PM

Apparently, it's the ultimate multi-tool.

cyclotoine 10-26-13 12:10 AM

I've come back to this a few times and thought about it. I don't think it is a bike tool. But it would be a brooks rivet puller.

zukahn1 10-26-13 12:56 AM

Well my guess is it a saddle stecher designed for horse saddles that could be used for leather brooks styles bike saddles.

Blue Belly 10-26-13 02:30 AM

I'm guessing a headset puller, as well.

Tire changing tool for the Model T Ford.
Cable stretcher used on the Golden Gate Bridge.
Back scratcher?

jimmuller 10-26-13 06:08 AM

Activation rod for a neural neutralizer.

okane 10-26-13 06:21 AM

What puzzles me is that I don't believe it is home made (handle is stamped not machined) yet no maker's marks!
