Let's see, all I have left is:
Clean old spokes and nipples; lace and true with new rims; mount rim strips, tubes and tires.
Clean, polish frame; redo box lining with gold paint pen.
Pack, install BB & headset.
Mount saddle, fork, bar/stem.
Service front hub.
Figure out which crankset & maybe buy new cotter pins.
Clean & install chain.
Clean, polish fenders; install mudflaps.
Install pedals/toe clips.
Figure out cable stops.
Run cables.
Tape bars (first time doing cloth)
Figure out LED lighting off the generator hub.
Whew, should be done by D2R2 2015.

Here's my just finished "Abarth" tribute road bike restoration:
It started life as an 86 Sintesi 6sp, that I converted to 7sp. Lots of little cosmetic details and a few modifications. Rides Great! Here's a before pic:
Enjoy!

I do like those little details. The "tribute" style of resto is a good idea. Seems like a great project for less than a king's ransom. Nice result, but does it fit in your car or are you gonna need a roof rack to show them off together?

A roof rack would be ideal for show, but for now I just drop the rear seat, remove the wheels, and everything fits nicely in the back.

A friend gave me her old Panasonic Sport 500, knowing I'd give it a good home, and I decided to build it up as a single-speed commuter, to serve as a wet-weather bike, and general backup to my Volpe.
As received:
Now:
I'm stuck at the moment, waiting on my Sturmey Archer XL-FD drum brake hub to come in the mail, so I can build up the new front wheel (and cable/wrap the other side of the bars), and I need to get a rear rack for it. I took it for a short-ish ride (maybe 5-6 miles) the other day, using the fixed side of the hub since I didn't even have the rear brake cabled yet, and I'm pretty happy with how it rides.

I like that Panasonic.
I have the XL-FD on my Raleigh Twenty. Very reliable and effective, and it's also very handsome. Heavy, too.

Looking good. Big improvement. Except...are you aware the seat post is backward? Will work fine, but won't get a lot of cool points. Maybe you did that intentionally to give a more forward/upright position (perfectly acceptable), or maybe it was just a mistake carried over from your friend.

OK, I've alluded to a couple of winter projects and posted a few hint pics, but both of these are now done and ready for the Spring.
First up is this Eddy Merckx Century in TSX. Top tube had been replaced some years ago by ed Litton and repainted, so it was sent off to Al Wanta who did a respray in the original Cobalto. Group is 10 speed Ultegra 6600 with a Sugino RD series compact triple crankset (50/36/24), wheels are Shimano hubs with Velocity A23's and 700C X 25 gumwall Vittoria Corsa SC's:
Next up is this very nice Eddy Merckx 753. Seller said it was a Professional, but could be a Grand Prix- if anyone can tell me how to tell the difference other than a serial number, I'd like to know. It had also been previously repainted, so another Wanta respray, this one in Ford Titanium gray metallic. Really like the detail work Al did on the decals. Groupset is Dura Ace 7700 9 speed with a compact Sugino 50/34 crank, wheels are Cane Creek Volos XL's with Gatorskins. This one will be used for fast club rides, hence the Civia Emerson shallow drop bars:

I've owned and enjoyed a TSX Century, but I don't seem to be in the right place for a 753 Grand Prix.
Well done.

The Eddy's are fantastic. I especially like the 753. Like your crank choices for each bike and all the details on your bikes are something to appreciate as usual. Just my size too, just in case you ever tire of them...

those are two beautiful Merckx. got 10cm of new snow last night, it's -9 C, and there is yet another cold weather alert for tonight. i think an ice age is officially here. good thing we have winter projects. project #1 is complete, pics shared. project #2 is coming along nicely. did the cables today and all i need is some bar tape and one of those new fangled 11 speed chain tools and i'll be good to go... if the snow/ice ever goes...

the pedals are wrong but almost in a good way...

yeah, i know the pedals are wrong, but i like clips and straps and my favorites are the Triomphe ones, so, there they are. they might fit in a little better when i add a shiny Record seat post. or maybe not.. don't care, only you guys know the difference. 99% of the people on the street will just think i have funny wheels.. LOL

A friend of mine gave me a 1985 Bianchi Veloce for my 50th birthday last fall...worked on it through the winter, one of my first projects. Simply cleaned and refurbed it...I did acquire a Campy Victory rear derailleur to make it all original again...with a few exceptions (saddle, etc.)
Here are some pics...she is looking good...and riding good...

Turned out to be a complete rebuild! Cinelli 64s and Cinelli XA stem are on the way as well as a San Marco Regal saddle. Or a Rolls. Stainless steel bottle cages will top it off
