Maybe not, doesn't really mean too much to me to be truthful.
the frame number dates it at a certain point in time, the lugs may, or may not. regardless, with some time and effort it will be a lovely bike. Thanks andy |
Hi all
Small update, thanks to non fixies outstanding help and guidance I have now sourced some original decals, along with H Lloyds help over here in the UK I now have joco decals, a full set of Olympic Rings, the correct reynolds decal and a small Dutch flag which I'll discretely place as appropriate before the frame is lacquered. i was at a large bike jumble this week trying to source a set of titan bars and stem but was unable to find some so will probably go with a milremo sport stem and old cinelli bars. as I plan to put some decent miles in on this bike I'll probably go with an older campag groupset, not sure on the rims but I did manage to pick up a really nice set of maillard hubs from a work colleague so that's something I'll have to research. The frame will be prepped for paint next month so pic cites on their way as and when andy |

Bike porn....
I have some work to do on the frame so it needs to be re sprayed with the correct decals, I can't be 100% on the model so I'll be leaving it quite simple. The paint job will look a little like this old Viking http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=359694 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=359693 |
Hi all
Quick update on the joco resto. frame has now been restored and sprayed up with original decals, pick it up next week. have sourced nuovo record cranks, bb, headset, derailleur, post, hubs, brake levers and dt shifters. Mavic rims, milremo stem, gb drops and a brooks saddle (although I might use a San Marco/selle saddle) at a bike jumble tomorrow looking for calipers and pedals, then it's the build. ill post piccies as soon as I get the frame back. |
Looking forward to them!

Well, Joco's could also be very colorful, like this Ronde van Europa:
http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Grotefoto-UCDDAPQQ.jpg For the record, I think this is one of the most beautiful fades I've ever seen - the colors just work, period. That's a beauty. DD |
To each his own, as they say.
reminds me of a Christmas tree…. ;) |

Yup, been there already, the frame number, 31315, dates it as 30s but the lugs don't.
Unable to totally restore sympathetically so have taken certain liberties, but I like it. Detailed lug work, colour scheme and decal positioning are all to my liking, even given a nod to its dutch roots with the flags. Heres the paint job, hope you like it. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=370393 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=370394 |
That paint job looks very classy!

Thank you, thanks again for your help with this.

Got the joco back from the frame builder, quick update.
Campy hubs stripped and serviced, re threaded with stainless spokes and trued up on the old mavic rims Regina Oro freewheel fitted Campy headset, BB, cranks, rear derailleur and shifters fitted Weinmann 730s mounted( needed these for their reach) Waiting on a NOS front mech and an everest oro chain to arrive, can then mount the campy brake levers on my handlebars and plumb it all in. Not totally sympathetic to original but should ride and look nice.......hopefully I reckon another month and I'll be riding it :-) Some pics.... http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=373906 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=373905 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=373907 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=373908 |
Very nice, and if I may say so: very much in the - somewhat gaudy - Joco spirit. I like it!
|
Thankyou sir, the colour is flamme plum......:)
|
Man it is really coming out great. Can't wait to see the finished product.

The joco lives!!!
got the stem back from the painters yesterday, fitted to the bars, brakes plumbed and now good to go. Been for a quick ride and it's fantastic, smooth and quick. a guy stopped me to look over the bike and after chatting it turns out he has a NOS gazelle frame with a campag head set for sale at £150. What you going to do!! hope you like http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=378016 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=378017 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=378018 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=378019 |
Yup, I like!

Cheers, I'm really pleased with it.

So...did you get the gazelle frame?
Looks very nice. Is is that cable guide not supposed to be mounted on the down tube? |
Not got the frame yet, just finished the joco today and want to enjoy it for a while. Hes 1 mile away so easy to catch up with.
Im sure the cable guides right, shifts smooth with no cable rub, always happy to be corrected though. Btw, the gazelle was mustard yellow, does sound like a nice score. Cheers |

I also wondered about the shift cable guides. I've recently put my Raleigh Pro back together and was a bit puzzled about the orientation of that guide and where on the the frame to put it. I pulled up alot of images from the old cloud and they all show the Campy guide at the bottom of the DT next to the BB shell. The Campy script is right side up but facing backwards. The side with the two guides (leaves) in line is on the rider's left, guiding the FD cable. That long leaf ensures that the cable goes just past the seat tube and does not rub the paint It also appears that the lower tip of the 'diamond shape' in the center of the clamp body is supposed to be up against the BB shell to help prevent the clamp from slipping down due to cable pressure. I also noticed that between the two guide leaves on that left side is a small tap. Looks like that tap rests on the BB shell to also stabilize the clamp in operation. BUT this one is all the cable guides I've ever installed so PLEASE someone correct us if we're wrong. I gotta lot to learn. |
