yup, Bill. thanks for the tip. i do possess a nice Hozan lockring spanner tool. snagged it when a generous person put it on the bay at a ridiculously low—relatively—price.
just ordered an HCW-4. looks like closest fit to the Campy one at the moment at an affordable price. let's see.

Nope, the pins are threaded. Just had to measure & tap (plus drill/grind the big hole). I can put them back in the Sugino, but I can't for the life of me remember what it fits!

I have the Harbor Freight tool and use it on Ashtabula cranks down at the coop. The pins are too wide for anything else.

+1 on the Sugino tool, quality stuff. Also got a cheap Ice Tools pin wrench and it does the job. Never had to put great force on these tools (yet).

The Sugino pin tool fits any Campagnolo type cup: Campy, Sugino, Sakae Ringyo, Shimano, Zeus, etc.

I've used the one from Harbour Freight. Indeed the pins were too big, I had to file them down.

The best tools I have for working on a adjustable BB are these two pictured below, I believe they are both HTK ( Tanaka ) and work better then any of the Park or Hozan tools I have used.

I got lucky acquiring my BB tools - they were included in craigslist tool scores. One batch had the nice campy tool (plus the headset tool. and the VAR fixed cup tool), and the other score had the various color park pin tools and the Hozan lockring tool. The Hozan tool is nice to have as it fits any lockring with a notch in it, wheel or BB. Just have to be careful!

That's what I prefer to use - you don't need to use a lot of force, due to the leverage exerted and the pins fit pefectly on every BB I've used it on so far. Before this I had the Lifu/ Ice tool hinged models (same tool, branded differently), which are OK, but a lot more fiddly to use.
