My daughter is helping me raise the money.... she will have the time of her life.

A little nervous sending my 17 year old overseas though.... tough to admit she's nearly an adult.

Well I see a lot of nice 300, 400 and 500 series from the early 80's often at very good prices but very few if any 600's with the nice original grey metalic paint and blue details.

22.5? Yeah, just used it as an example for the color I like.

I'm pretty sure the dark grey with blue details was only offered in 83, but I can see the point that the 84 was a nicer bike.

I'd be happy with a frame set in the pewter/blue and build it up. I don't think it was a super popular color combo, but for some reason it seems just perfect to me.

I built one up for my daugher 2 years ago. She has never ridden it; she likes her specialized rockhopper that I built up at the same time better.

Did you sell your Trek to help finance her trip? If you did you are a great Dad (you may still be great Dad even if you did not sell the Trek to pay for the trip).

I have sent all four of my kids to trips to Europe (England and Spain). They all had a great time and learned a lot. Your daughter will be fine if she uses a little common sense, just like she would use here. If she is fluent in French that will make it that much easier for her.

BTW, I have yet to set foot outside the USA. Every time I save enough money for my dream trip to France, something comes along and the money disappears.

It's an '83 600, but in that incarnation was sporting an NR/ Stronglight drivetrain. Currently undergoing a transformation to be more like a 620 with a Suntour group / triple and bar-ends.

Yeah, there will always be more bikes to buy.
We have been buying and selling bikes for a while now and I just had to sell some of my stuff to get her there. No real heavy attachment to the bikes.
I'm excited Sarah will have the opportunity to visit France. She is in her third year of French and is going with some friends.
Sarah also bought her first car with bike flipping money. I'm a lucky Dad.
