I like shiny parts as much as the next guy, but I say leave the anodizing. It serves a purpose, makes for less maintenance and is attractive in its own way. I see an appreciation of anodized parts as a mark of a sophisticated palate.

and looking at the older super record group
hubs
seatposts
all front derailleur parts
shifters
pedals were all not anodized
while only the headsets, ,
cranks,
brake levers,
brakes
and rear derailleur cages were anodized
to me it is hit and miss if anodizing was so crucial every part would have had it

Besides being functional, it's highly beautiful.

rootboy, my gyst is that I'm careful to enjoy using the stuff I love more than I love the stuff I have.

That's a fine sentiment, Tom. And a I agree with it. Many ways to enjoy beautiful things in our lives. I do believe that inanimate objects can be appreciated for not only their intended function but for the intrinsic beauty as well. I let them enhance my life in more ways than one. I have spread peanut butter, for instance, with my peanut butter wrench. But these days most often use my four hundred year old Tanto.
