Specialized transition

Well I got this bike for the cool price of free. It has sat in the garage till today wen I decided it was time to dig it out. Find out what she needs and get her back on the road. I'm not that knowledgeable about bikes. Don't know what year she is or of she is any good. But it's my only road bike I own. Kinda curious on what you guys think. Got air in the tires today and was checking out all cables when I noticed the shifter cables were completely rusted through

It's an excellent bike. Do I need to say it needs cables? I don't like the bars or tape, but keep them if you like them. I always give the bearings fresh grease and balls when I acquire a bike.

A closer shot of the other side of the bike would be helpful.

Bikes: 1962 Rudge Sports, 1971 Raleigh Super Course, 1971 Raleigh Pro Track, 1974 Raleigh International, 1975 Viscount Fixie, 1982 McLean, 1996 Lemond (Ti), 2002 Burley Zydeco tandem

It looks like a ton of fun. Let us know how things go with fixing it up and riding it. More pictures, too, please, especially of the drive side of the bike.

Bikes: Listed in my signature.

I can't identify the frame material or components group from your pictures, but that appears to be an upper-mid-range triathalon bike from the mid-to-late 1980's. Also appears to be in good rideable condition. With a fresh tune-up it should be a dependable, fast, fun training and road bike. Specialized was known for getting well-spec'd bikes contract built in Asia and branded under their own name. There is some lack of love for Specialized by some on this site due to Specialized's strong business tactics used against minor competitors. But their bikes are generally good value and a good ride. Fix it and enjoy it.
