Dumb question: i just got an old bike for $5, I thought I'd have myself a little project, but I have found that my stem is 7/8" compared to the 1 1/8" do you guys know of any adapters I can get?

Not so fast, do you need 21.1mm or 22.2mm or 22.0mm (old French standard)?

The fit needs to be very accurate to be reliable.

True 7/8" is closest to 22.2mm, using conversion factors.
