Getting paid takes the fun out.
This gal at work picked ub a schwinn breeze 3speed a few weeks out and asked me if would dazzle it up and do all necessary repairs. Sure for fifty bucks. So she agrees and delivers the bike and hands me a hundred bucks for parts. Not really sure if the fee is included there. So this being my first schwinn overhaul I researched and learned a few things about schwinns. First thing I learned was about the tires...no big deal...still easy to get. The three speed hub still operates but the cable's housing is cracked and faded so I discover that it all has to be replaced. No big deal, bikeman4you showed me how it's done. And I been applying a ton of elbo grease and still so much to do...what a pain in the ass this has become.
And there's still the house and wife and work and pets and I NEED TO GO FOR A RIDE PEOPLE!
Never again.

Bikes: they change so much I'm tired of updating this
Word will get out that you work on bikes. Then the real headache begins. I still find it amazing the way people tear up bikes.

No prob, just do the minimum work, if you need parts use crap from your bin, wipe a rag over it, and she'll never know the difference.

HA HA HA HA like any of us could ever do that.

I did something similar for one of my old squadron mates. I never expected to be paid for the labor, since I had lots of time sitting on alert to do it. What upsets me is 2 years later because of his wife and kids he still hadn't ridden the bike!!

The best ones are parents who ask if you can fix the kids bikes. Do the favor once and you're in trouble. Haha. Kids will trash bikes in an hour, the parents will want you to fix it over and you'll get a thanks and a beer voucher.....
