New Acquisition - De Rosa Professional SLX
I bought the frame (mid 80s or so De Rosa Super Prestige with SLX tubing) from a friend of mine here in Austin and built it up with a mixture of Campagnolo and Dura Ace. Drive train is Dura Ace, brakes, headset, BB, seatpost and hubs are Campagnolo. Cinelli stem and bars. Rode it on a 30 miler for the first time today and I love it. Found it to be effective and comfortable. Very happy to have this "new" regular rider in the stable.

Thanks everyone! well the bike is not perfect but I cleaned the frame and dealt with minor rust spots on the chrome. The paint had dulled over time and so used a fine polishing compound and it now has a nice gloss shine to it. Have coated all with a wax polish for protection. I intend to put a lot of miles on this bike and have semi retired my Zullo to try and preserve the flaking original decals! I know it is a strange reason to put aside a frame but I don't want to worry about the decals every time it starts to sprinkle with rain. After a bit, pieces of Zullo decal just start to slide all over the place. Anyway yesterdays ride has left me with a smile on my face - man this is a nice bike! After all it is the ride that is important to me.

Congrats! De Rosa is on my list. For some crazy reason, I found two Pinarello's on CL at a decent price. Now if I could find a De Rosa in the condition you describe, all my Italians would look equally used!

great looking bike. love De Rosa bikes. Hope you enjoy it. I dont think the model is called "super prestige" however. That sticker that says "super prestige" is just a tribute to Eddy Merckx winning the super prestige trophy at the time he was riding De Rosa bikes. Some one out there correct me if im wrong on that. Congrats on the bike.

I like how you did the parts mix - that's how we did it in the late 80s. I'm not included in "we", I couldn't afford it

Ha I knew I would get some stick This is going to be an all weather rider and it is actually my first bike with a Japanese drive train! I had all the parts in stock apart from the front dr and I needed a 53 front chainring. All my other bikes are period correct Campy Record, Nuovo Record, Super Record and even a Cambio Corsa. One bike has Simplex TdF rear dr. Maybe if parts come along that are Italian I may transition the bike in that direction. I also have a Simplex Super LJ6600 and I wouldn't mind trying that out but would like to get Simplex Retro Friction shifters first.
