Cinelli Question??

I have been asked by a non-riding friend to sell a Cinelli that she was given. Anyone recoginize the bike? Estimated value? The frame at the bottom bracket is stamped 89177. Thanks.

Cinelli is a very desirable marque. However, before anything, I would carefully check the downtube just in front of the shifters for damage. Whenever I see non-matching wheels, I presume the bike might have been involved in a wreck or run into a curb. This often is the reason why front wheels get replaced, as they are bent past the point of repair. I also see some paint damage in that same area, so look for a deformation or wrinkle in the tubing.

If that is a negative, the bike should bring anywhere from $800 to $1,000 or so. You can also search ebay for completed auctions on comparable frames. Lots of threads about Cinellis on this forum as well.

Looks to be a mid 80's Cinelli with Nuovo record components. American Classic seatpost puts it around 1985-1990.

Yes, a 1989 Cinelli Super Corsa. Is that a dent in the top tube? If so, ouch!. If not, maybe $800 for f/f, tops.

$1500-2000 all day long on ebay. $1000+/- $250 on Craigslist depending on market.

The fork has definitely suffered an impact with the fork bent rearwards. It also looks as if teh top tube might be slightly bowed. The prices given are therefore not at all relevant to this particular bike.

The images are not the best, I suspect the fork too, and the top tube is either bowed or camera distorted.

Bike is angled from wall.
Bars are turned left.

Too many variables to say if it's bent. Non-matching front rim may be an indication of impact. OP will need to provide better pictures.

Agreed.

Bring on the close ups.

A "rocket scientist" on the forum once told me a De Rosa I owned had been in an accident.

Squashed the value, even though two esteemed local builders refuted the eagle eye's unsolicited help.
