Nothing like finding a Campy brake barrel adjuster has somehow ended up trapped behind the front quarter panel of your car - and you can see it but just not quite reach it. Argggh

I'm pretty sure it fell off a semi-complete bike that didn't have the brakes cabled yet. It probably dropped from the bike while being racked to the car's roof. I noticed it a couple weeks ago at the trailing edge of the pass. side front Q-panel when I had the pass. side door open.
A long magnet on a telescoping handle should do the trick. Now if it would just work its way back to the same spot it was at when I could see it

Then it landed in your car due to the Campagnolo gravitational force embedded in every Campagnolo steel component and some dimensional worm hole you were near, you must have had a full Campagnolo bike nearby.

Don't know what happened to this picture, nothing like this has ever happened to me before... but yes, when I saw you were from NZ, I couldn't resist.

I will tell you what happened, it entered the fourth dimension after it escaped through the tear in a bike box of a bike I won on eBay, seller did an okay job of packing but after removing the brake cables just left the cable adjusters to fend for themselves unsecured in the calipers. I found one rattling in the bottom of the box, the other escaped to that dimension beyond, same place that one of my socks often do when the spouse does laundry for me.

Depending on the car, you can loosen the fender liner, starting at the top of the wheel, and possible the lower rear of the fender, at the bottom near the rocker section (some are welded, some are not). The liner is often pretty flexible. You may have it fall out. If you're like me, it will fall out and promptly roll somewhere else just as inaccessible.
