One of these days I'll find a cool old Precision Bass.
The coolest old Fender I had was this 65 Esquire. It came to me routed and fitted with a 65 Jazzmaster pickup. This was THE guitar used on the BoDeans' Love Hope Sex and Dreams album. "Fadeaway," "Still The Night," "Angels," and "She's A Runaway" were all played on this guitar. I ended up trading it because it just didn't do what I needed it to do. I wish I had more pix of it. Duh.

These Zefals were on sale at Nashbar for $20 a couple weeks ago. I like.
Of course it was only after I saw it in photos that I realized I had to do some extra work to get the fender line a bit better.

I'll post here since this isn't yet a bike...
These came in a few weeks back. According to the seller, '50s/'60s French. No idea on brand, but if anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear 'em.
Cleaning them up should be a good learning process...
Wire routing for lighting (this is front, rear has one clip). Front will get a modern dyno light:
Rear light. Same seller, different bike/auction, c1920s French. Again, any ideas on make...
This thing is remarkably, well, light. It was sold as 'ready to go' and taking it out of the packaging I had suspicion I was cheated. The bulb+electronics were indeed included - someone put a lot of care into this design. If I can't get modern LED guts+standlight to fit gracefully and without modification I'll supplement this with a battery light on the seat tube - and likely will choose to do so in any case:
The best example of this detail (thankfully up front):
Eventual home (this should fit at least a set of 42s):
I'll be fabricating some homebrew brackets and hardware to mount these in order to preserve their form (no drilling). My current plan -FWIW- is to eventually transfer the fenders, lights, et al. to another build if all goes well here.
(EDIT: Forgive the stick bag on the drumset - it's a joke that stuck. Promise.)

1980 Fuji Royale with VO hammered aluminum fenders. The front fender was simple enough to install, the rear one gave me some headaches trying to get the front attachment and the through-bolt for the kickstand to play nice together. Clearance is fairly tight everywhere with Schwalbe Marathon tires which are larger diameter than "normal" 27x1.25" tires.
