Allegre Tubing (Racelite)

I have two steel high end road bikes that I ride in good weather (a Masi and a very early Joe BReeze road bike that would later be the Venturi, but US made instead of Tawian), but I have a lot of fun watching and collecting the sort of undervalued Japanese frames. I acquired a few months ago a Giant Allegre, with the phrase "Racing Light" tubing on the frame, and no lugs--it does say "butted frame", but does not specify double or triple, etc. It came with a mix of Superbe and Superbe Pro, and is a full group. The Superbe Pro hubs are stunning, on something Campy, I think Omicron or Omicrom rims, and the gears are indexed downtube. Any idea what tubing this frame was built with? Or comparable to? It rides nicer and livelier than my 4130 bike, does not have the race level stiffness of my Masi, and don't ride it after being on the Breezer (don't drive a Grand Cherokee after you do the Blue Ridge Parkway in a Porsche 911c). I have done a goole search and a search on this forum and did not find much except these Giants are generally underappreciated, price wise. I paid $125 for the thing, in quite nice condition, but a slight flat spot on the front campy rim. As an aside, I mis-spelled Racelite in the caption. I went out and looked after I posted, it just says, Racing Light.

I sold quite a few Allegre's back in the day as a dealer. Entry level bike. Never saw a model offered with anything remotely close to the Superbe group on it. A buck and a quarter for just the parts is a smashing success! Tubing is cromo, and if I recall correctly it was double butted. Head tubes and stays are high carbon steel. This is all from memory, which is slowly becoming a distant memory...its an age thing.

Thank you for the reply. Does that suggest that someone simply put this high end stuff on it as an upgrade--maybe had it laying around from something else? The components are in very good shape. Almost new. Frame had garage gunk on it, and after I cleaned it up I took it from SF to OR bungeed to a boat trailer, well a boat, for a month, so the frame is scratched up from that. I thought it was about comparable to the parts when I bougth it--not much wear.
