Short Fender Lovers Club.

Hello Everyone. The Short Fender Lovers Club has one simple rule, you need to have a bike with "Shorty" fenders on it.

Commuter

I can join the club with my daily commuter. The crate is zip tied to the rack and I just set my lunch box inside. I have tried many ways over the years and this by far works the best.

I've always liked the look of these. Is there a current source for them?

Not to rain on anybody's parade or anything, but what is the point of these so-called fenders? Looks like about the only protection they'd provide is for your brake calipers and fork crown. Or are they just some kind of fashion statement?

I think they are simply for looks.

WOW! Great pics. I actually started this 'club' as a goof after the 'brifter haters" and "E" shift classics, but I see we have some other shortie fans.

"Shorties" have got to be the most useless item you could ever fit to a bike. The old Italian "shorties" were not shorties but rather only a small portion of the full mudguards that because they were bolted in place were simply left on when the larger section was removed for races (and re-installed for training).

My former ride, now my wife's ride U08 Mixte

With DT Shifting (she only rides in one gear) and would be shameful to change to a fixie!

I have an extra pair of shorty fenders and may put them on my PX10

The rear ones do help keep the water off your butt and $150.00 Brooks saddle to some extent but when this Dawes was built Brit cyclists used cycling capes that covered the rider and a lot of the bike as well.

Finally a club I can join. I agree, absolutely useless, but I like the way they look, so that's enough for me.

That makes sense! I could never figure out what purpose a short section of fender could possibly serve by itself, way out in front.

Easy on easy off

For me, the allure was appearance and the ease of installaion.

After my first ride in the rain, the allure was how easy it was to take them off and fit full size fenders (not as easy to install, but useful).

Well they started a fashion trend.
