Old Trek and a pair of fork crowns

I came across an offer I couldn't refuse though I wasn't entirely certain of all the details. I am an addict.

It's a Trek ZX 8000 from the early to mid 90's(?). Aluminum, possibly bonded, not sure. I believe in the later 90's the 8000 was top of the line in Treks mountain bike lineup.

I am not sure what I am going to do with the frame, it was a complete impulse. I already have a mountain bike project in addition to several other projects, more than I can handle at the moment.

One thought is to put a rigid fork on it with drop bars. A suspension fork in good working order with a one inch steerer tube seems like it might be hard to find. Any thoughts or other ideas?

Coming with the frame was two fork crowns. I am not sure if I have scrap metal or something interesting. Any suggestions on what to do with these?

If your frame came with a suspension fork you may want to put a cross bike fork on it. Then you can use a 700 wheelset. A 700 will also fit the rear and with spacers to move the pads out V brakes will work.
Here's a 930 that had a suspension fork with a cross bike fork and 700 wheels.
