gloss bar tape?

rats.

thought i got a deal on ebay on some white fizik bar tape for a pretty flip i'm overhauling, but when it arrived, it was the high gloss stuff that feels like vinyl. i thought about using it, but it sorta scares me... a lot. i just put it on my craigs ad for now. anybody use this stuff on his c&v?

You don't mean the silver Fizik tape do you?

I really like the texture of Fizik tape, and the white variety can look great on a C&V bike. At least I think it does:

i mean the gloss.

fizik comes in the leather-like regular stuff, the gloss and the faux suede ("soft touch").

love the regular stuff (i put it on all my bikes), and i can tolerate the faux suede, but the gloss feels like vinyl.

it probably stays really clean though, so there's that.

just wondering if anyone can chime in with experience.

i went ahead and used it. it's not nearly as bad as i thought, once it was on the bars. i'm not sure i'd want to use it on a hot day without gloves -- might get slippery. but, who knows. it might be just fine. for some reason, it feels a little more cushiony than the regular microtex.

the pic doesn't do the gloss justice. it's a lot shinier than that shown.

thanks. those levers look pretty cool... and the sunset...

oh, also, i found the gloss more difficult to wrap, especially the figure-8 around the lever. i had to be more conscious about it, and still didn't get it quite tight enough around the nds lever.

but, as mom would say, no one will notice on a trottin' horse.

You will like the gloss finish. It doesn't hold the Dirt.

Looks nice. Feel free to update in a while regarding how well it holds up. I'm considering white vs blue tape for a project, but hate how my previous experiments with white tape have turned into dingy gray messes.

I use the gloss on a few of my bikes,I really like it. I thought it would be too slippery, not so. I was pleasantly surprised.
