So 30+ years ago, when I was just a teen, I was trying to do a stunt on a skateboard, failed, and smacked my face on the concrete, chipping a tooth in the process.
On Tuesday I felt what I thought was a sinus headache, but by later that day I knew it wasn't. Yesterday was worse, last night was misery.
Wife manages a dental practice, I'll be going in this afternoon. Needless to say no ride yesterday or today ... My mileage goal for the month is completely shot

I keep having tire... issues. I went through over a dozen in my first year of cycling alone. Ive had four tires back to Maxxis on warranty, and I've had a Panaracer Gravelking pretty much explode out from under me. I keep losing riding days to one broken thing or another, so the wife decided that I ride too many miles to own just one bike. She then took me down to the LBS and bought me the one I liked the most.
I had decided before leaving the house that I was only going to look at bikes that are the antithesis of the Ritchey I ride now... and I think I succeeded.
58cm 2017 Cervelo R3, Ultegra 6800 everywhere except for a Rotor 3D+ crankset. With cages, K-Edge XL and Hotshot, it's barely 17lbs.

Actually, I haven't worn sleeveless in over a year. I lost more weight, and the sleeveless jerseys I have are both XL, and fit me like potato sacks. I have the ridiculous farmer tan lines on my arms now. And the bib tan line is darker than ever. Who even knew that was a thing?

For us dummies, what is 1.5 wrap?
I've been experimenting and have decided that rock hard tape over rock hard bars is undesirable so I'm curious. I have gel pads underneath at the moment, which is pretty swell but I gotta rewrap this weekend!

I wondered about this too.
I remember BITD (early 70s), wrapping new cloth tape over the old cloth tape to build it up and cushion the bar. I also have some gel pads on mine, I'm also way overdue for re-wrapping (have the new tape, new cable housing, etc, just been lazy).

After two and a half days of utter misery, my wife called and got my root canal scheduled for today.
Home resting now. Would really like to be back on my bike Monday.
And of course my teeth are weird. My pulp in the tooth that was getting fixed was that of an eight year old apparently - a very wide pulp bed. As we age they tend to shrink. You'd think big pulp would be good but no.
In addition, my tooth didn't come to a point at the base, as most do, which made the root canal a little unique ... And by unique I mean more painful.

Then I quote myself from earlier:
"Did the 1.5 wrap-- used the white to wrap from the hoods to the tops, then did a full wrap with the Fizik microtouch."
So there's two layers of tape on the tops, but the drops are just the single layer of tape. Similar to using gel inserts or wrapping the tops with old innertube. I used the horrible white tape that came with the bike to wrap the tops, starting at the hoods. It is a lot more comfortable on the tops, my hands sit a little better on the hoods, and the drops feel like they always have.

So I rode to work twice this week (12 miles RT). My Trek FX 7.2 is HEAVY and with my trunk bag/panniers it's even worse. Oh my it's hard getting rolling after a stop light. I found it hard to get my cleat clipped in too. Guessing the position of the pedal/crank compared to geometry on my road bikes is playing a part. I'm toying with idea of getting rid of FX and getting a Pure Fix SS/FG with flip flop hub and use backpack rather than trunk bag/panniers.
For now the plan is to ride 3 days a week (Tue, Wed and Fri) and drive the other two days because of MNF and THNF!
I've tried a few routes trying to find best route traffic and safety wise. The ride is FLAT ranging from 40-60 feet of elevation (thx to overpasses over FWY and Coyote Creek trail).
No bike lockers at work and I'm new to office so not going to push things so I'm stuck locking bike up outside at the bike rack in the employee lunch area but that area is open to anyone walking by. And a bike w/o a kickstand won't work with the stupid bike rack design. Not to mention no way I'd feel comfortable about locking either of my road bikes outside.
I've gotten nearly 54 miles this week including my ride today so that's awesome. Tomorrow If I can get out for 7 miles I will meet my 60 mile goal for the week for first time all year.

On a non cycling note: we were woken up by next door neighbor at 3AM because he came home and hear gas hissing out of the pipe on side of our house right by our bedroom. Fire Department came out and shut off gas. Gas company came out and replaced pipe and meter. Best thing beside our house not exploding and killing us is that the leak happened before the meter so on gas company side and the meter wouldn't register the gas leak so our bill won't reflect all that gas.

I'm pretty sure I'm not as fast as my new Power2Max power meter thinks I am-- I did 30 miles @ 18.2mph average (a scant 700ft of elevation) but the PM has me at 167w average. Based on my height and weight, with no elevation included, the calculator gives me 201W average. That second figure falls much more inline with what I'm used to seeing. On my morning lap, there's a 2.5 mile stretch at 1.0% grade. I did the lap twice, first effort was 17.3mph @ 184W, second was 17.7mph @ 182W. I know the new bike is light and high tech and all, but since when can I do almost 18mph average up a slight grade at 183 watts?
I've read through the FAQs on Power2Max, and they have a self-test protocol, which involves riding at a steady state up a 1 mile length at 5-6% grade three times, and plugging the numbers into a calculator. While it sounds like a barrel of fun, I'n not super looking forward to it.

I have returned from toothache/root canal hell ... oof ... that was freaking awful.
The root canal was't as bad as I feared (hurray for nitrous!) and I was able to keep my pain in check after by cycling Tylenol and Advil.
