n00b 1st poster!

I am 6'1 and 320 lbs. Just getting back into the game after an 8+ year hiatus called getting a car as a teenager. Now 26 and facing possible hypertension and elevated liver functions. Dr gives me the choice, excercise or take drugs that would probably make me tired (and lazy).

Currently riding my high school sweet heart (the mongoose not the GF!) showed her some loving this weekend.

Im 225, and like 5'8"

Well, I finally set goals to go biking everday. Now that school has been outta the way for a while, and I fixed my sleeping schedule, I can go biking every morning.

I went biking this morning, and got poofed after 5 mins, and like 3 circles around the block. When I went back inside, the food I had ate an hour before was coming around for round 2, and made me feel terrible, I laid down for like 30 mins, and fell asleep for an other 30.

Just woke up, but I aint gunna lie, I havnt felt this good in months, even after the period of wanting to hurl.

Definetly gunna do it tommorow morning, and try to improve my horrible endurance.

Good Start: Stay with it. I did 80 laps around the block one day.
I started doing 5 miles then resting. Would go for another 5 miles until I could do 50 miles each day.
Now I can ride 42 miles non stop.
You will get there some day. Just stay with it.

I went agian today, and lasted just as long, but my legs were in pain from yesterday. Cuz this block is somewhat wiered, its like a corner with abunch of apartment complexes and several little streets. Going into it, its flat, first turn it starts a incline, and second turn its an incline, third turn is a decline, then back onto the normal street which has abunch of speed bumps until i get back to the block, and I actually try and make a longer route by going all the way down the street and back and then around that little block.

I did 2 laps today, and I got poofed, but atleast this time I ate less and don't feel like ima hurl

Im, going agian tommorow. And every morning for the rest of the summer. Its hard since im so outta shape, but I hope ill get there as quick as I can.

Hey There BBECK dont get discouraged, I started at 380 and After 2 years of riding I am at 310 and rode 4000 miles last year and 8 of them were century rides. I can ride with some of the big names here in my local bike club and they cant believe that I can ride as well as I can for someone my size. Just remember that people our size have an awesome amount of power. the little guys can only dream of being that strong. I too started with a loop around my house that was about 5 miles and when I got home I could not move. Now I look at that loop and say that I am not even warmed up at 5 miles Before long you will be doing laps around that block and wanting more. Just stay with it. ~E

I am 6' and 245 pounds. I ride a 2005 Novara Randonee as my primary vehicle. I don't really have a fitness thing going as I'm reasonably satisfied with the way I am. Biking is more of a lifestyle thing with me.

Hey guys! I'm new to the forums, but definitely not new to cycling in general. All through-out my childhood I rode BMX bikes and skateboards, and eventually got into mountain biking. Which I've been doing for the last 8 years or so.

I hadn't been too active on my bike however in the last couple years and I've fallen out of shape. Still definitely going to the gym but it's not enough. I've made a goal to go out riding every morning and so far I've been keeping that goal since I set it last week. I'm loving every minute of it!

Currently I'm riding a 2005 Raleigh M40dx but I hope to get a road bike soon. I have a friend who is going to try and get me a killer deal on a Felt bike and hopefully I will be tearing it up on that soon! (Hooray for 60cm frames lol!)

Sadly, due to the fact that I live 65 miles from work I can't quite commute yet, but I'm hoping to move sooner rather than later and then I will be riding to work every day!

Oh and for the record, I'm 22, 6'3" and about 280lbs (to be fair, a lot of it is muscle-mass, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have some fat on me )

Makes me realize how lucky I am to live in Southern California where it is pretty much good to ride all year around. Although it does get pretty hot during the summer, but that is nothing tons of water cannot fix.

6' , 225. Gave up running because I hate knee pain. I like riding, and so far my Lemond isn't complaining too much. Neither is my Trek 830, but then, it never did.

Hey all, I'm 6'2" got into riding for exercise a couple years ago and weighed 334 pounds. Today I'm down to 229 and slowly (but steadily) dropping. For the last month I've started commuting by bike which has really helped me add in extra miles without taking much extra time from my family. I ride a Giant Iguana MTB, pretty much stock though to help with the commute I've changed out the knobbies for some thinner slicks.

See you on the road!

I was born on a saddle. but somehwere along the line about 3 years ago I got off that saddle and decided that I needed to put on some weight. I put on 70lbs. I got to a high 262 (5'10") as of January of this year. I had a good friend who wanted me to ride in the ABQ Century (This weekend) and did what he could to get me there. He gave me my current frame a Klein Quantum. I have been on this frame for the last few months and have lost over 30lbs in the process. I am still a Clyde and ride like a Silver back gorilla. Here are my before and after pics as well as one of my bike

250+ with my Zaskar MTB taken back in Feb.

Great Progress - I hope I can do as good once more. The hard part for me is not losing, but sticking with it. I get to looking good and feeling good, then I start pigging out again because I figure I can afford a few extra calories and then before I know it, I've slapped on another 25lbs

Good Job! Your a motivator for me.

Glad to be of help, Don. I did my first metric in over 12 years in the ABQ Century this past weekend. The only reason I didn't want to go the whole 100 was I didn't want to sit in the saddle for another 3 hours.

Next time.

Just keep on keepin on, Don

5' 10" Around 220lbs. Haven't lost a single pound since I took up cycling over a year ago. The clothes fit differently and I feel better, but same weight.

Trading lean muscle for the fat. ANd your feeling better. That's great.

I did a 180 with my diet to loose my weight.

First post for me here. I'm 5'10" and sitting at 210-215 pounds. When I got out of college I was up around 265#'s, dropped most of that by changing my diet and now I'm trying to get back to what I weighed in high school when I was clydesdale distance runner (185 pounds) used for blocking at the beginning of races. I just bought a Trek 400 Elance off CL, I think its a 1987 that I'm going to use for both for exercise and commuting since I'm moving in July, cutting my commute from 50 miles to 5 round trip.

First time poster here, and I'm proud to do it in a Clydesdale thread I am 6'2" and am currently at 246 pounds. I was 286 at New year's when I decided it was time for a change. I commute to work every day for a total of 16 miles a day, and sometimes I commute to my other job for a total of 42 miles both ways.

I ride an '07 Specialized Allez Elite, and I love it. I've torn it up a few times, but my local bike shop is great and they take good care of me. I've also got a Hardrock sport mountain bike, and that thing has seen major punishment.

I share your loathing for skinny punks who never break a sweat when I'm hyperventilating, but I would love to someday lead the pack across town. It's just really nice to find a thread for guys like me.....big dudes need saddle time too!!!!!
