One of the best for shorter riders is the Assos - S series.. The XLGs will easily fit 40-42 inch waist but have a pretty short inseam.. I am over 6 feet tall and these were way to short for me but the waist fit fine..

5'-9" round about 235 lbs, Fred Flintstone build. Currently downsizing thru the 38" waist realm.

I've found XL bibs to fit very well (Blackbottom, Cannondale, Castelli, BCM, Verge). I recently picked up some Blackbottoms in a large (dirt cheap, figured they'd encourage the slimming) and they fit nicely also, obviously a bit tighter than their XL equivalents.

6'1" x 255 - 42 inch waist. Sugoi XXL and PI XL are both comfy for my build. I'd go snug over loose personally. My Sugoi XLs fit the best with the exception of crotch room!

Unfortunately not a problem i have ever had before so must be the Sugois

It's the SUGOi chamois, it's a bit thicker than average and real chamois! Get a set of Sugoi bibs a bit on the tight side and you learn how Geddy Lee hits the high notes in 2112!

Great forum, great thread!

Based on what I read here, I have been looking at the Pearl Izumi's. But their sizing chart is bizarre. The men's XXL claims 41.5"-45" waist and 46.5"-49" hip.

This seems backwards -- big guys tend to have big stomachs (and hence big waist), not big hips.

Can anyone offer any experience about this sizing?

Thanks!

I am kind of surprised nobody has mentioned www.love2pedal.com. I have used their bibs and their mountain biking shorts, and they have their forever valid CLYD coupon code that pretty much covers shipping ($5 off).

They probably changed contractors in China. Few companies manufacture anything anymore, instead they determine a specification and contract it out to a jobber in China, India, Bangladesh or Pakistan, or some other slave labour camp, a change of contractor can result in wildly different sizes, even though two items look identical and have the same labels, and are indicated as the same size, they are different sizes.

After years and years of riding with the waist roll-over issue, a friend of mine introduced me to bibs from Bellwether in 2X. At my then-weight of 270 (at 5'-10) they fit just fine. Now at 235 or so, they're starting to feel a little baggy in the arse. I may need to drop down to standard XL. I still have some trouble getting my mind around that.

I'm 5'11, 220 lbs and 40 waist. I ordered from here https://www.bike-jersey.com/ two team kits for $52 each jersey+bibs. They have 30 days return policy and a great variety. I have no idea about the quality but I'll let you know. Free shipping over $100-yesterday.Today is over $120.
I spoke with their manager and after he put me to measure my waist and chest he recommended xxxl.

I'll throw a mention in for the Performance Ultra II bibs.

https://www.performancebike.com/bikes..._1071114_-1___

I'm 6'1", 260, and wear a 44/32 pants. The XXL in these bibs fits me great. I've worn them on rides ranging from 20 - 100 miles and have never had an issue. I've crashed in them and gotten some heavy road rash on my hip, but the bibs didn't rip at all.

If you keep an eye out for sales, you can get them usually for under $40-45 bucks. As far as taking care of them, as first I line-dried them, now they just go in the dryer on low, along with the rest of my cycling clothes.

I use the assos and Gore bibs. The Assos are size TIR and the Gore are XL, I originally got the Gore XXL but they were too baggy, I have a waist that is 39-40.

Thanks dlester for the mention. The CLYD promo code is still good for $5 off any order. The bib sizes go up to 4X

So how is it for the taller Clydes? I'm 6'6" which is mostly in my torso, rather than the legs.

I don't want to invest in bib shorts only to find out if I can hit notes above baritone.

I'm 6'1 and the straps are about right, but aerotech does have tall bibs as well.
