I wear a 15EEEE shoe, and good ol' Sidi makes shoes to fit me: Size 50 Mega. Their "Mega" versions of several of their shoes will fit a big, wide foot. Best of all, when they change styles/models some years, the old ones go on sale CHEAP. I just picked up a pair of new/old stock Genius 4 Mega road shoes for $59!!! (They sold for $210 when they were the latest thing)

I use the Sidi Bullet Megas and Shimano 520 SPD on my 'cross bike and Sidi Genius 4 Megas and Forte CR150 on my road bike. I had Shimano's cheaper version of their PD 647 pedals on my 'cross bike and they started coming apart after about 1K miles.

Good biking,

Are you using a clipless pedal now? MTB, double sided spd type, clips amd straps? I use Look Deltas. The are a single sided pedal, can be a little harder to clip in and the cleat is hard to walk on, I use Kool Kovers which reduce wear and give better traction.

My former pedals were spds, dbl sided. They were easy to clip in and the shoes were easy to walk in. On long rides I did get some hot spots and never felt that they provided the most support, this is purely subjective.

I really like the Look pedals even though they have the previous mentioned problems, the stiff sole gives me better power tranfer )at least partly subjective) and the wide base is very stable when standing.

I guess as a recomendation if they would be your first clipless I would go with an SPD type pedal (Mine I think are Wellgos ) and a MTB type shoe, easier to clip in, easier to walk.

I'm planning on getting some clipless today after work to replace my old clips which work, but I don't really care for. I'm debating between Shimano PD-M324 and Shimano PD-520 SPD pedals. Not sure if I want the platform option or not. I'm leaning towards not and going with the 520's. As for shoes, well, thats going to depend on what the LBS has in stock, in my size, that I like.

Have any of you guys tried using Mallet С without clipless shoes? I want to buy a pair of Mallets and maybe upgrade to the cleats later as I can't afford these shoes at the moment.

Time ATAC XS pedals (I think that's it. It's the composite body, no tension adjustment, crmo spindles)
Specialized MTB shoes. Reasonably wide, pretty high volume shoe.

I use the exact same pedals and I like them. I wouldn't want to use them for anything but road-biking but they aren't bad. I think shimano no longer makes that model so there are alot of them on ebay/nashbar/performance and apparently bicyclebuys for a very low price. Might be a viable/inexpensive way to fit several bikes if you needed to do that.

I run MTB platform pedals and use either Crocs plastic sandals or running shoes. I don't like to be attached to the pedals.

Shimano Dura-ace PD-7810 pedals
Shimano RO85 shoes

I like the hole in the Shimano shoes (I never ride in the rain and it doesn't rain here much).

I'm all about the platforms. Just picked up a set of Forte metal platforms to replace the 19-year old plastic pedals on my MTB.

Ummm... 5 pairs?

Size 46 Shimano SH-T 110 Road Shoes (c1993) w/SPD-SL cleats - road training.
Size 47 Specialized MTB off road shoes w/SPD cleats - commuting/off road casual
Size 46 Specialized Sonoma w/SPD cleats - commuting/around town
Size 46.5 Lake CX125 Touring shoes - currently cleatless but will probably be SPD
Size 46 Sidi T-2 Triathlon shoes (white pearl - drope the hamer) will use SPD-SL

I have Ultegra 6620 pedals and a pair of flat/SPD combo pedals, and currently use the first two pair of shoes the most. The Sonomas I use if I'm going e.g. shopping or visiting friends on the weekend, and the other two pairs are investments.

The Sidi shoes are for my Gatorade series triathlon over summer, and the Lake shoes are for when I take my Hardroad around Victoria this summer.

I have CrankBothers 5050 Platforms on my bike. They are short, but fat. Imagine that. Very sticky with my gym shoes.

I run Shimano SPD-SL pedals and SIDI shoes. I like the pedals because they are big enough to use without the shoes for little around town runs.

Time atac xs - only use time pedals and only clipless - other similar options, i.e., simple and lots of float, that get good reviews are Bebop and Speedplay frog

sidi action srs - with a Sidas conformable moulded footbed (no hotspots or numbness)- they're not as wide as sidi mega but the soles stiffer and the rubber bits are replaceable so the shoes last MUCH longer in the end

IM(not so)HO there is no point in different pedals shoes for different bikes - same pedals and one pair of shoes for all your bikes - I can't see any need for more unless you are a hardcore triathlete for fast transitions or a track cyclist who feels they have to use toe clips and straps
