Check out the BKool app for computer, tablet, and smart phone as it is great for using a trainer. I have the BKool Pro interactive trainer/simulator and the BKool app will control it as well as the Wahoo Kicker trainer which is great as I can get the same resistance to include wind when I ride the trainer inside on a route. The main difference between this trainer and riding outside is when you stop to coast for more than five or so seconds the trainer software pops up a message "do you want to end this session?". So no coasting on the trainer.

With the software you can input your routes and ride them, or you can ride other people's routes as well as routes input by BKool and segments of races like Tour of Britain, Tour de France, and La Vuelta.

Keep the tires spinning (even if you have to hire a monkey to spin the pedals for you)

I will look at that software. I'm always up for anything that can help me overcome my mental blocks on the trainer. I have a laptop and speakers (netflix, music) now but if I can use BKool as another method to stay on the bike I'll get it.

Thanks for the point!

I am so glad I live where winter's harshest days are low 50's and maybe high 40's with the occasional crazy drop down to high 30's one or two days during the season.
I just don't know how you guys handle the trainer rides. I think I would go insane. Riding for me is enjoyable because I get outside and go.

I took a look and it's interesting! I just invested to get my area where it is right now so I won't spend on that right now. However going into the next year's off-season I can see something like that showing up.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Today will be my first outdoor ride. I won't go far nor a bunch of time most likely but I will be enjoying it. I've been on my trainer here and there but I still need to get my rump ready for more time in the saddle.

I have yet to set my goals for this year. I've got a new job and I don't think I'll be able to use my lunch hour for riding anymore. Nor will I be able to do the occasional commute. All riding will have to be either in the morning, evening or weekends and I'm not sure what I'll be able to accomplish just yet. My goal may be to "ride three days a week".
