I got in 4.5 rides this week (broken chain on Thursday truncated that ride) and climbed @4,000' of hills. At this point I feel like a sandbagger for only signing up for 10,000' for the month. So, I am increasing my July goal to 15,000' as I continue to increase my hill work (and simultaneously increase my motivation to lose more weight!).

MTD = 9,485' (63% of 15,000' goal)

July 15 = 292 ft (in garmin connect the elevation measures as 292 ft but in strava it measures as 117 m/383 ft). Using garmin connect data for this.)
MTD = 4,580 ft

Goal: 6,000 ft

Nice average gain per mile.
You need to stop coming out here and killing me. 13 mph on some 5% 'Hassan' hill.
On the upside, I didn't 'Bristol' any cars yesterday

I signed up for 20,000 feet, and I'm at 7,638 so far, with 4 rides. Half way thru the month, so I'm behind schedule. However, I did take a week off to go on vacation, so barring any unforeseen circumstances, I plan to reach my goal.

LOL this coming from the guy who said "I sure am glad I still have 3 gears left" as I'm shifting into my last one. LOL

Leave me to my mediocrity please.

My god...who are you people...surely your not human..yes I called you Shirley.

I did about 50 miles today with about 4300 feet of climbing...I threw everything I had at this ride, and I was riding a 30 tooth rear....maybe one day when I grow up I can be like you east coast boys

I'm going to jump into this one... I'm not going to start measuring until July 28th ... that one ride (full century) is over 7200' of vertical. As a 230lb-er that'll likely be the end of me.

This week was a little light on the elevation gain, so I hope I can get to my 15k goal.

MTD totals: 130.1 miles/ 8533 ft elevation gain.

I guess I will throw in.

I just started riding a road bike a few weeks ago. I commuted for a few years and used to post in that forum. Used a Trek 7100 with 700/23 wheels for that.

I'm 6'0 250lbs. 48 years old. I live in the same area as freighttraininguphill so have some opportunity to climb.

Strava won't give me monthly data, I guess 'cause I don't have a calendar month in yet. But a spreadsheet shows 196.3 miles / 3752 ft so far this month.

I don't care for Gladiator movies. Now if you ask how can a sparrow carry a coconut then I'm in.

I can only speak for myself. I must have fallen somewhere along the line and bumped my head.
Living where I do - in sight of the Appalachians I've learned to embrace the hills no matter how bad they suck. I used to find ways around the hills - now I look for them.
There's one 6.5 mile loop I can do here at the house which has 1000' of gain in it and it includes, according to mapmyride, a CAT3 and a CAT 5 climb. Can't get away from them

I say go out there and ride hills,

86'/mile is a good amount of gain. Relish in the fact that you got that done. A dof of me cap to you.

2336 feet over 46 miles. Longest hilly ride to date, though the hills were a bit less steep than my Saturday ride. Most awesome ride to date though, dodged a huge thunderstorm in the black of night (hill took a lot longer to climb than planned). Also biggest and longest hill I've ever done.

Details here: https://velocipedia.wordpress.com/201...hain-reaction/

9,351 feet over 261.9 miles. 2,850 feet to go. 2 more good hill rides and I've smashed my goal. I may hit 15,000 if I keep this up.

My month is done after having been hit by a car. I'm very bummed about this as I did not reach my goal.

I hit 9,528 feet over 281.79 miles, which is my highest elevation/distance ratio ever, but still nowhere close to the requisite 13,200 I was shooting for.

If there is a silver lining to this however, Garmin says I climbed 16,264 feet over the past 30 days, which is a month-long period, and 3000 feet over my goal. So I'm claiming to have met the goal "in spirit". Anyone buy that?

Who drug who? I brought up the back most of the day!

What's 16,744' in 171 miles among friends? Good times right there even in the rain yesterday.
Come August 4th after the ride I'll thank you for it.

OK, I'll thank you now.
Wouldn't be where I'm at without your wisdom, teachings, and being able to sit second or third wheel and just watch what you do. As I said before - you can observe a lot by just watching

Appreciate it much.
