Time to Cash Out, I came up short but it was a rough month with personal interference. and a week of soreness after a hike to Mt. Leconte and back down. (I always get right back in the vehicle and drive off without a cool down)

Pledged 165 - 16.25 = 148.75 (5/8)(Peugeot) (Avg 11.6)
Remaining 148.75 - 18 = 130.75 (5/9) (Cignal Ozark) (Black Mtn, and Renegade guard shack w/ handle bar cam) (avg 8.7,max 36.5)
Remaining 130.75 - 20 = 110.75 (5/11) (Cignal Ozark) (Fall Creek Falls/Camping)
Remaining 110.75 - 19.5 = 91.25 (5/20) (96 RH) ( Renegade Mtn 1100ft climb) (avg 8.4 Max 40 mph)
Remaining 91.25 - 10 = 81.25 (5/22) (Cignal Ozark) (avg 9.4 max 22.5)
TTL 83.75 for May
April Total 188

5/6 - 11.6
5/8 - 13.3
5/16 - 14.1
5/18 - 27.2
5/21 - 11.9
5/24 - 2.3
5/26 - 10.8
5/31 - 20.6 rode down to Kemah to visit the new house we're moving into in a few weeks... and then hit the biggest hill I know of in houston (kemah bridge)... it's about 70 ft of climbing... hit 38mph on the way down (WEEEE)... was a slow ride and the last bit I really had to push... finding issues with the fit on my bike and some of my gear... cleats need adjusted, my bibs don't fit right... and I've got excessive fat and skin not helping matters... but I met my goal for the month... next month i'll try to do more shorter rides with a few longer tossed in... but I feel good for my first month back in the saddle

Thanks.

I just got back from my last ride for May. Final totals for the month:

2,412 Miles
75,410 ft of climbing
163 hours in the saddle
Couple dozen packages of gel and granola bars
10th place in Strava May Massive challenge (which may change as others upload their rides)
3 flats
2 very tired legs
1 package of new handlebar tape
1 new tire
0 crashes
-10 pounds ... which puts me back into sub-clyde territory

Im in awe! I don't want this to come off the wrong way but are you working a 40 hour work week? reason I am asking is I would love to get that much saddle time eventually but I have no clue how to manage my time effectively to allow that much time and get the time I need to sleep, ect... Even if I had all day every day I am no where near being able to do that, but would love to know how to pull it off by the time I am.

Almost 40 hours. Am off one day a month on furlough and then took a couple of Fridays off to get my vacation balance at work down.

Most challenging day was when I had an all-day out of town meeting. Got up really early to ride into work, then rode the bus to the airport to head out. Flew back late afternoon, then saddled up for 30 miles back home. I rolled into the driveway at 9 p.m. exhausted.

May is in the books for me.

Pledge 206 Miles
Actual 418.5 Miles

Hopefully, I will be able to get 400 miles in June as well.

Last ride for the month. From Ventura to Santa Barbara, out-and-back. Rode with calamarichris from Carpentaria back to Ventura. He posts frequently in the regional sub-forum. He wasn't sure what a Clyde was, so I told him. He is 6'2", so will always be a Clyde. He is quite fit and it was an effort to keep up with him, (I suspect he was loafing for my benefit). He just may pop his head in to see what the Clyde/Athena sub-forum is all about.

All May goals accomplished, some barely.

This month I pushed myself hard to conquer the Battaglia in Montagna challenge. As a result, I accomplished all of my goals early. So as a reward and a change of pace, this week I got out and enjoyed nature and went on some fun rides on the Mule. I explored some little used trails and did some fat-tire riding along the river bottom. Totally forgot about speed, time, or distance. Basically, I let my inner child go wild and had a blast.

For the month, 913.5 miles, well over my goal of 683.5 miles (1100k).
For the year, 3061.3 miles, 20.27 miles/day. My original goal was 10 miles/day, now I'd like to see how long I can stay over 20 miles/day.

Wow, I really have to learn your time management skills, and I don't usually work weekends. I was sweating finding the time to finish the tour tune up challenge, but you proved there are ways to find the time. I am sure the tune up will get me all psyched for the tour!

Hi everyone, I haven't been very active on this forum but this thread did inspire me to do more riding this month. Along the way, my wife joined me as well. Last year, I tried to do at least 100 miles of biking in May but came up short my 12 miles. This year, I started the month off strong in May having completed 56 miles in the first week of May.
Being in Portland, the weather just sucks as one week we'll get 80 degree weather then the following week, its back down to 40's with rain, thunder storms, and all that goodness. I went 2 weeks of inactivity due to the crappy weather but finally got a chance to finish the rest of it and am happy that I reached at least 100 miles of biking for May.

Goal: 100 miles
Accomplished: 109.5 miles

(Wife completed 72 miles so she was close)

Very late to update, unfortunately things have been crazy at work! I am sorry, but had to choose between getting involved on the forums, or getting out on the bike in the spare time I had - I chose the bike!

Rather than work out where I was on my daily reporting, will just give the totals:

MTD: 1439.2km / 894.3 miles
YTD: 6109km / 3796 miles

May target: 1320km / 820 miles - accomplished

Congratz to all those that made their targets!

Special congratz to 1242Vintage (Rick?) for an awesome performance and also Tandem427 for the great month and overcoming the "Battaglia in Montagna" challenge, well done Bill.

Cheers all,
John
