Finally! I haven't ridden since 5/5 and I hopped on a spin bike today for 30 min
I had ankle surgery on May 7 - I tore some flipping ligament in my left ankle and I guess the resulting instability left my ankle very susceptible to sprains, which I did again (badly) in March. So I elected to have it repaired. This is what the repair looks like
I was in a cast for about a month, and then a boot for another 2 weeks, and I've been in an air cast for the last two weeks. I should get out of it next week but I've been avoiding it while at home anyway.
So, long story short my doc said I could ride a stationary bike with no resistance so I did that tonight for a half hour. I think I'll fire up old faithful tomorrow and take my son out for an easy spin.
What I learned tonight? I hate stationary bikes. My ankle feels pretty good even if I am still limping and have limited strength in it.

Good luck and go slow. My Daughter had a lot of Ortho surgeries and you don"t want them going back in.

SWEEEEEET! I'm sure your roadie is all cleaned and prepped with the down time you had. You'll get more strength in the ankle the more you use it and I'm darn glad I didn't mess mine up as bad as that photo.

Congrats and keep after it. I hope the transformation from a cripple to a hill climbing machine goes quickly

Well, hit the road today and it went fine - https://app.strava.com/activities/64732357
The only trouble I had was stopping - I usually unclip my right foot and step down on that foot, which left me putting my full weight on my injured ankle (the left, still clipped-in foot). It wasn't bad, just something to think about.
I'll try again on Saturday, something similarly short.

I have to do the same, I give one good push off at the light then sit down and clip in the right. MUCH easier on the load for the left. Normally my left is my unclip foot, so I have to keep telling myself to unclip the right foot before the light.
First week, I had to use my MTB crank brothers Candy pedals, more float but mush easier to unclip when I get back home.

Well, I thought about unclipping my left foot for a change, but it was hard to twist it far enough & I didn't want to change up my routine. I never have trouble unclipping (assuming I can rotate far enough) with speedplay road pedals. We'll see, I was already trying to talk myself into a 50 mile ride on Saturday but I know I'd regret that. Baby steps!

Yeah, but my ankle is pretty sore & swollen after just 8 miles today, or whatever it was. If my son goes with me, it'll be short & slow. If he doesn't, I"ll definitely go further, probably head over to the SGRT and dawdle along that for a while.

If its swollen n sore then just take baby steps til next weekend. Otherwise the doc might put you back in a larger boot again

Hopefully you'[ll get the same color supersix as jsigone so you guys can be internet twins.
As for lost power, check this puppy out (noting that it was intentionally a light ride, it's still funny)
