I noticed something wrong on my last commute (Wednesday) and decided to clean and tune up my bike. Ended up replacing a chain, rear brake pads and cable. The cassette will probably need replacing by next year. Wasn't expecting these items to wear so quickly (only had the bike for a year). Lubed it up, and went for a test ride to make sure everything was OK.
40° + 12 MPH crosswinds + rolling hills = 2 miles

3/28: 6 miles (mountain bike in the rain, found out commuting in heavy rain doesn't interest me one bit)
3/29: 2 miles (test ride after fixing up my hybrid)

MTD: 363 miles (goal: 400 - may JUST make it)
Rained yesterday (3/30) and thought it was going to rain this morning (3/31) so I drove. I still got a very short ride this evening.

3/31: 2.6 miles (working on speed, my averages this year have gone back to the beginning ~12mph, hopefully I can get back up to 15 MPH by July)

MTD: 365.6 mile
s - Didn't make my goal this month, had I known it wasn't going to rain today I would've commuted and exceed my goal. Oh well.

Onto April, and hopefully some warmer weather! April goal: 200 miles ( Just to be safe )

I finished the month with 22 rides, 9,269' of climbing and 408 miles of wonderful riding. Except for the last mile, I hit a speed bump wrong and crashed. Yes I have road rash but worse is the road rash I got on my Garmin Edge 705. Does anyone know if Garmin has a service that will replace the case and screen of one of their units? It still works but looks terrible.

BTW this was on MTB.

I rode less than that. Here's my numbers for March. It's been in the 20's or lower for most of March...

Last time on bike was 11.21.2013

3.06.2014 - bought the bike. Stopped on the way home and trail was still covered in ice and snow. 22° and I tried around town. Road around the block and back, less than a mile, LOL.

3.10.2014 - 9.3 miles. On the roads behind my house. First time on roads since first rides last year.

3.11.2014 - 7.1 miles. Out and back behind my house.

3.21.2014 - 5.0 miles. Bike trail in Foxburg, PA along the Allegheny river. Quick cold ride (32°) on the way home from work.

3.27.2014 - 5.3 miles. Out and back behind my house.

3.28.2014 - 9.8 miles. Made a nice loop from previous out and back runs behind my house. First time riding a pretty massive for me hill, 151 feet for 0.4 miles.

Total for March is 36.5 miles. Weather finally breaking so I hope to do way more than that in April starting today with taking the kids to the bike trail.

Don't hold back... I deserve it, I should've put on my rain gear and rode off rain or no rain.

Weather was also a hindrance for me and probably others as well. I'm using my lunches for rides more and more to get in miles/hours but what I'm missing is longer rides. I need to start stretching things out.

So I missed my goal again this month. I'd have been able to hit it if I kept to mostly road but the call of trails and dirt roads got me again. I ended up with 240 miles and 21,000 ft of climbing.

March is in the books. Per Garmin Connect:

Number of rides: 8
Distance goal: 160km/100 miles
Actual distance ridden: 181km/113 miles
Percent of goal completed: 112%

(No, this is not an April Fool's joke.)

.

Glad I didn't set a goal for this month, had a car borrowed for much of it and took advantage of that to be lazy. :/
Still got a little over a hundred miles in, a whopping 132.6 miles for March.
