I never eat after dinner, even when I'm gaining weight. However, I eat much better and less of it when I'm losing. I'm one of those people who never maintains a steady weight. That sucks.

I just hit my daily goals and it does not seem to matter what I eat or when, as long as the daily total is right :-). I have done the "eat every 2 hours" thing in the past, and it did not help or hinder my progress really.

Knocked off a 50-miler today in under 3 hours on nothing more than a bowl of oatmeal with grapes and berries. To do that, I take a Gu Gel every 45 minutes. And, since it was hot today, I added some Emergen-C packets to to one of my water bottles. I was spent though at the end of the ride.

I ate three hard boiled eggs when I got home. Then for dinner, I had some homemade nachos the wife whipped up. I figure I burned at least a 1000 calories more than I took in today as a result.

Wow! Yesterday's effort was good for a two-pound loss. No wonder I felt like I ran a marathon. This morning the scale is my friend.

Now, if I can avoid pigging out later today, I'll be on track to lose at least three pounds this week.

7000 calories in 50 miles (takes 7000 cals to lose 2 lbs) ?? Uhhhhh NO way :-).

Calculator ap is one I use, for a 232 lb rider and a 30 lb bike (me and my bike) it gives me 1520 cals for 3 hours at 14.0mph. It is one of the more conservative aps too, one lady I know who rides about 1200 miles a month training at 19mph for 24 mph time trials uses 400 cals an hour and it works for her to lose weight in MFP eating that back.

She puts out more power than we do, but she is also more efficient due to a higher state of training.

Just to be clear I totally DO believe you lost the 2lbs.....but would not attribute it to a 50 mile ride :-).

Probably water weight because I gained one of them back by this morning and I didn't eat much yesterday. That's why I mostly count weight loss by week, and even then over several weeks and then averaging it. 1-2 pounds seems to be the rate of weight loss per week that actually stays off.

I run a 7 day average......takes a lot of the drama out of it :-)

I can watch it go up 3-5 lbs in one day. So, I've settled on bopping on the scale at the same time every Saturday AM for the "official" measurement. All other weigh-ins are just for monitoring purposes.

Edit: I like the monthly thing you guys do here. Take the weight from 8/31 and see what you got on 9/30.
