Here's a little exerpt from something I wrote in a previous thread:
I have gone through a number of brands of kit from China (Monton, Mupi), Euro (Castelli, DeMarchi, Campagnolo, Assos winter kit), US (Pearl Izumi) and most likely some rebranded Chinese offerings from Uno and Crossroads. Hands down, the best bib shorts are the Campag ones. Following that, my recent investment in Castellis has proven a winner for comfort. The PI ones are also good, but I gambled on size and they're still a bit tight to be comfortable on longer hikes, but I ride track as well and they see some good use there.
We've been going through winter so I haven't been using my shorts too often. I have a big problem in the fact that my favourite shorts are Campag, and Campag no longer do clothing! So I will persist with my newer Castellis, although I would like to try another better fitting pair of the Pearl Izumi PRO bib shorts and also have heard lots of good things about Sugoi, so I will leave them on my radar for the future.
As you have found, reading reviews is not very helpfull. Very few people write in with bad reviews, and many web sites will cull bad reviews anyway. Also, knicks are a bit like saddles. They're very personal and the level of comfort also depends on what kinds of distances you ride. From my experience, the higher the price, the better the comfort as the ride length increases. I'm not sure about people in the US, but here in Australia, we do a lot of purchasing from Euro shops like Wiggle, PBK, Chain Reaction Cycles, Ribble to name a few. They, just like the US, is coming out of summer, so summer kit will be selling out and getting cheaper.
Another thing is that I had wear developing on my inner thigh too due to the little velcro strap the ataches my saddle bag to the seat post. I have since gone for a Scicon saddle bag Saddlebags : Compact 430 Pro Carbon - RL 2.1 which puts the bag further back and away from my inner thighs. It's been on the bike for 18months now without any need to adjust.

I'm the exact same size as you. I have really broad shoulders as well. What I have found with traditional brands is when in the riding position, the straps that run over the shoulder pinch.
Based on feedback in this forum from other big and tall riders, I went with Aerotech Tall Man's Top Shelf XL bib shorts. They were the first to fit comfortably and I'm a Aerotech convert. Hope this helps.

I buy the bottom end PIs. First set lasted 4.5 years and ~11,000 miles. Just bought set #2 . They're about $65.

Alright, anybody wants to try the magic of Castelli Progetto X2 Air chamois, the endurance bib has that chamois and excel sports has 'em on sale for under $100.
You have to want small or medium though.

Thanks everyone. I've heard so much positive stuff about the Castelli Aero Race (and not just @TrojanHorse's blabbering ) that I decided to pull the trigger on those. It seems they're on closeout everywhere, and difficult to find in XXL in black, but I found a pair at Ribble. $115 delivered - on sale, using their 10% off coupon (expires today) and free shipping. Here's hoping I like them!

The biggest problem for me is that the sizing seems decidedly Euro. I've shrunk to the point where I can fit into most Mediums, but the Castelli Endurance X2 mediums were a very tight fit! Most of the Castelli sizing charts, including the one on their website, seem to indicate that a medium should fit someone with a 33" (84cm) waist, which would be perfect for me. Excel Sports seems to have it right, though, pegging the mediums as good for someone with a 30-32" waist. I probably should have ordered up a size! The mediums work, but feel more like a race fit rather than an endurance fit.
The chamois is decent, but I'd expect a bit more coverage given that Castelli sells these with the "Endurance" label. It's better than the chamois in my Falconi Deluxe Bib Shorts, but not as good as the chamois in my Assos FI.Mille's. Again, it feels more like it was designed for racing rather than endurance. Padding is decent, if not quite as luxurious as the FI.Mille's.
Not sure I'm a fan of the low-rise waist and "open front" configuration of the Castelli suspenders. The Castelli design isn't bad per se it just isn't what I'm used to wearing. Again, this might have been less of an issue if I'd ordered up a size. Still, if you're a Clyde with a large stomach, I have to wonder if it won't end up spilling out of the front of the Castelli bibs!
On the plus side, the Giro++ leg grippers are the best I've ever used! They're super-comfortable and do a great job of keeping the legs in place.

The small euro-sizing and low rise fronts are definitely known "issues" with Castelli. I haven't tried assos bibs yet (supposedly chainlove has some but you know how that goes). I'll assume any comparison to assos is a general positive but then, I don't know jack about the assos model lines and how they differentiate their bibs.
Frankly, I'm surprised anybody that posts anywhere NEAR this forum can get into mediums. XL is pretty snug on me and at 215 I'm on the lower end of the clyde range.

My only bibs are Primal but I find them very comfortable and a good fit for me at 230# and 5'11". They have held up well and don't get any special treatment outside of being washed in cold water and dried on the lowest heat setting (barely warm) until just slightly damp and then laid out to dry the last bit.

OK, got the Castelli's in the mail. I'm 6'2", 235 lbs. The XXL's are, as @TrojanHorse says - "tight". I think they'll work well though. Haven't ridden them yet, though.

Not trying to thread jack, but does anyone have any idea what bibs these might be based on?
BikeTiresDirect Team Bib Short at BikeTiresDirect
I am trying to ride more and have been getting a bit uncomfortable in the saddle region. I figure $20 is cheap and if they are no good it is not a huge waste. They also have my size (XXL and XXXL) I have zero experience with any cycling specific clothing since I have not started to ride seriously long distances yet.

I've been very happy with my Aerotechs. 80 mile days included. Very durable, fits well for us bigger folks. I'm 6'2", barrel chested and broad shouldered, and ~ 280 pounds.

I bought a pair of Castelli Free Aero Race XXL and Assos T5 in XLG. The Castelli's are for sale in the Road Bike Marketplace. They're just not for me. I actually think they're just a bit too small for me. I'm 6'2" 240.
The Assos T5_Long Leg are awesome. I haven't done any long rides in them yet, but they're very promising. I bought the XLG and do wish I had bought the XL's. The XLG are just a tad too big, and losing weight isn't going to help that any. However, I just noticed that Competitive Cyclist has the T5_Regular leg on sale (size XLG ONLY) for $135. This is a great price for these bibs, if they'll fit you. Again, 6'2" 240 and I think the XLG is slightly too big for me. Take that for what it's worth!

Great, now I'm going to have to find some Assos bibs to try out. What the heck is the difference between all the models? FI, 13, Mille.... the head spins. I think I'd want XL in a long leg variety - I hate shorty short bibs.
Excel has some assos models on sale right now for a not terrible price.
