Seems Nutcase is at it again with a new line of helmets aimed at bicycle commuters. Looks like there is a lot more venting, and a bit more open design.

I like the design and graphics. One size, sorry, it just don't fit big people.

I've been looking at these Abus helmets: Bike Helmets of the Urban Series - Helmets / Bike Safety and Security. They look like they have good ventilation, and I like it that they have an LED rear light built in.

I like the look, opposed to the "waffle fry" look of most helmets.

I like if they offer more side coverage, opposed to some goofy designs that appear to sit on the very top of a head... Why bother?

I'm concerned that there may not be enough venting for hot weather.

I have a Watermelon and I can tell you, the added ventilation looks good to me. If it's lighter or a little more sophisticated in the fitting, that would also be nice. I'd like something that adjusts to my head rather than just picking padding thickness.

The graphics are pretty boring though. The colors are subdued and the patterns aren't interesting. I wouldn't have gotten one if not for that watermelon pattern or the other fun options in the original version, and there's nothing about these that appeals to me that much.

I think Bern have better look with regards to style.

I have a gold sparkle (old) one and it is a bit hot. If these new ones came in more fun colors and patterns I'd probably upgrade. Now I am looking for something fun, stylish and breathable.

The road/sport kind? I have one of those. On hot days (90 degrees and up) it can get a bit insulating. My Fuji RLX is very vented and "froofy foam hat", but on hot hot days, it works.

These have like 8x more venting than the pavement sport hard shell. I find the areas that do have the vents are the spots i want air flow.

I am going to email them about more patterns, but they did JUST come out with them, so i'm guessing they want to see if they "stick". These are kind of a hybrid between "froofy foam hat" and the pavement sport design in my opinion.

My head was saved 2x by helmet, once by a nutcase, so that's all the argument i need to wear one.

I agree, for the money, you should have the same patterns as the other style. I personally don't buy for style, though i will say my "personal theme" has always kind of been the 8 ball, as i've always been the oddball.

If i were to buy one of these, i'd probably get the dutch orange for its visibility.

As a Watermelon Nutcase head also, the new vents look kind of like the pig faces on the game Angry Birds....

I use a nutcase helmet and nothing beats that clasp and cloth thingy under the chin. All you guys that ever got skin caught in a regular bicycle helmet clasp know what I mean. The magnetic clasp so much better.

I tried on one of the new versions, the one size fits most. It was too small, couldn't even put it on all the way.

My head measures about 23.5" right in between the medium and large in the generation 3 models (listed under "street" on the nutcase website). Could not get the medium all the way on, the large was OK.

I'll stick with my Giro Atmos; nice and light and plenty of ventilation...

My head gets really hot. That ventilation doesn't look adequate to me.

Went to an LBS looking to buy a Nutcase, they steered me to the Bern helmets instead because it was 90F. The Bern's worked out pretty well for me so far.

i have a a 6 6 1 dirt lid and use late fall and winter early spring riding. It definitely keeps head warmer. I am not sure when I upgrade I would go Nutcase or Bern.

If they retailed at $40-50, yes, I would look at them.

Not at $80, though, the protection difference between any CPSC approved, non-MIPS helmet and another is negligible, meaning the only thing you are paying extra for is styling and comfort.

The styling isn't worth it to me and the comfort is a wash at best.

Not for me. Not much ventilation when compared to a normal road helmet.

I have the Bern Brentwood and have ridden it in 95 degree F (heat index over 100) weather. It has more vents than any of the Nutcases - 2 in the front, 5 on the top, 4 in the back. It comes with a removable liner that doubles as a sweatband. There is an optional winter liner with ear covers.

Like many who have posted already, I need much more ventilation that those offer for my sweaty head.

I see no point to needlessly heavy hard shell helmets. No thanks.

All helmets look dorky. I prefer one that's light, ventilated and comfortable.
