I dunno what it is, but it seems this year I can measure my ride not in miles, but in how many work gloves I see. I realize it's probably just blown off the back by a forgetful worker, but geezus I've seen a bunch of them this year.

For the past 2 months I've been steering past a smashed cell phone between the traffic lane and the on ramp that has survived all kinds of storms and traffic. It's not a great find of any sorts but has become an icon on my route. Part of the case has wired earbuds attached to it that have disintegrated over time. Other than that it looks like it just landed! The kicker is that I've seen the street sweeper twice on my morning work commutes and this pile of garbage has survived since.

I found a kitten on the bike path on Friday night. He asked me to take him home, so I did. I had him vaccinated and checked up by a vet. Now I'm finding a home for him.

I found a snake on the ground this morning.
I did not care for that.
Related note: I also this morning learned that my bike is VERY nimble when I need to dart out of the way of an object at the last second. Really nice handling.

There is a distinction between this thread and the "Strange things" thread. This thread is for anything you find on your commute (i.e. money, tools, keys). The "Strange things" thread is for much stranger items (i.e. purses, large bike parts, computer monitors).
But who cares??

I found a head lamp, the kind that clips on the brim of a cap with a row of five LED’s. One clip was broken. Also apparently broken was the switch, I couldn’t get it to turn off. Before I popped out the battery it had three lights on, after I popped them in again it had one. It has two nickel sized pancake batteries so I can’t imagine it has much power or burn time. I should look to see if the batteries are rechargeable and I could use them in my Fitbit

This morning, on my first morning ride in 5 weeks, Highway 101 gifted me with a fresh, very mangled raccoon. Pretty sure it was a raccoon, I didn't look that closely. It also gave me a beautiful sunrise.

Mastergrip 10mm wrench with ratcheting end. It sees constant use.
...and tennis balls are surprisingly common.

I wish I would find at least one of the water bottles I've lost in the dark of night and not noticed until reach for a sip of water a mile or so down the road.

I used to stop and throw them back over the fence, but it has become so old that I don't even bother any more.

Latest finds have been a nice padlock, a chalk line, some harvested corn on the cob that fell out of the wagon (took 3 cobs home to feed the neighborhood squirrels). I keep passing a bunch of loose change the last few miles before home. I'm just too tired at that point to stop and grab it, there's probably a dollar there. I've been watching it pass by for the probably the last month. Couple weeks ago passed a broken hash pipe. LOL. Oh, and stopped to grab a spool of weedwacker line but realized it was just green wire ties, like for bread bags. Since I already picked it up I took it home and tossed it. Or maybe my wife stuck it somewhere.
