Who has the shortest commute?

I have gone from having a 12 mile one-way commute to having a 2 mile one-way commute. I usually make it 3 or 4 miles instead just to be out for a few more minutes. Who else has a very short commute every day?

Not the shortest, but mine is 2.5 miles one way. My heavy commuter bike makes it feel longer sometimes.

Bikes: A bunch of old bikes and a few new ones

Mine is about 2.5 miles each way. It feels like a short commute but not in winter!

Especially as I don't have disc brakes.

But without a shadow of a doubt, the next bike I purchase will.

Do you count those people who walk from their bedroom to their living room or study?

I used to have an approximately 3 mile (each way) commute. I think I walked it more often than I rode it... didn't seem worth the bother of getting dressed to ride, getting sweaty (ended with a 1.5 mile climb), showering, etc... Leaving work sure was fun though; I'd turn the pedals about once and I'd be off on a 35, 40mph descent for a while.

Now my commute is in the ~20 mile range (each way), so that's actually a nice ride.

It is about 3 miles each way. Mostly uphill on the way to work down hill on the way home.

1 mile exactly door to door, this morning I walked instead of riding. In a suburban environment to boot.

Again, mine is not the shortest at 3 miles each way, but I gather you are trying to get an idea of how many riders have very short commutes.

Bikes: This list got too long: several ‘bents, an urban utility e-bike, and a dahon D7 that my daughter has absconded with.

About 1.75 miles each way here. However, i normally run errands on my way home.

2.3 miles each way. Mostly uphill in the morning and mostly downhill in the afternoon. I have found a longer route that puts it right at 7 miles each way.

Shortest route is 25 miles door to door, each way. I usually drive 10 and ride 15. I also have an nicer, safer route that is one-half dirt at 28 miles.

Back in '90 I had a job that was 3/4 mi from my apt. Sometimes walked, sometimes rode the bike.

What kind of job do you do and is it difficult after such a long ride?

Think of Don Draper, but without all the money, sexy wives, great ideas, or good looks... That's me.

after doing 17 for a couple years, the 13 for a solid year thru the winter, when I jumped down to 6 it was such a let down I gave up bike commuting. it just wasn't worth the hassle.
