A plug for lights: love these

I bought these lights for my fiancée from a BFmember in NY and she loves them. Very bright, especially the tail light. I Was pretty jelious of them. We rode together for a few nights home from her work and they are powerful both night and in the day. Very impressed.

So..... I decided to buy a set for myself.

If those are 850 lumens I'm Greg Lemond...

[Edit: Didn't see that they run off a battery pack, so just call me Greg...]

Looks pretty cool. There's only 1 review on that amazon page, you should leave your thoughts there as well for the benefit of other potential buyers.

The Amazon listing title says a rechargeable Samsung battery...

Per product details "8.4V/5200mAh Samsung Battery". It is strange that they didn't at least include a pic of it...

I wonder how something that small dissipates the heat from 850 lumen light. I see plenty of flashlights with that led that claim to be 850 (or more) lumens.

show us a pic or video of them installed on your bike and give some some more information about how you like them.. They looks great and small but amazon description could be better.

If I get a chance to, I will. I can tell though that from what I have witnessed (it being on my finacees bike) it put all of us who were riding in a group on a night ride to shame. The front light is very powerful and the tail light I really like. I get a lot of lumens off the combination of my current helmet light and bar light but the bar light I have is weak on its own. I currently own a Plant Bike Superflash but this new one really kicks @ss. I also like the button to turn on and off both lights on the handlebar. Is my current setup a pain to turn on? Not really but the button of this new system is easy and simple.

The one downfall is the amount of wires. It can be fixed with hiding the wires but it takes a little convincing to do when setting it up on the bike.

Bikes: too many of all kinds

For that price, I bought these.

Amazon.com : Cygolite Expilion 850 USB Light with Helmet Mount : Sports & Outdoors

I have too much crap from unproven chinese vendors to keep giving them money. I would rather spend my cash on a proven reliable, supported american brand.

I just show my local bike shop the amazon price, and they match it, which saved me about $50 on this light. That way I get American quality, a known product, and local bike shop support.

Bikes: Windsor Fens, Giant Seek 0 (2014, Alfine 8 + discs)

Looks like they have a conical light pattern. Not the best.

As for the Cygolite, I have a Metro 550 and it's definitely a summertime daytime strobe light. In the winter on high it needs charging every day, so I'm back to the cheap Chinese lights, none of which has ever given me any trouble in 8 years of daily use. I keep buying new ones but that's because buying new stuff is a disease and I like shiny things.

Also IMO two lights front and back are a necessity, the two on the back always on, the second up front as a backup. No one light is good enough even if it cost $10,000 and is built to military spec.

I have a Chinese light that I used for all of last year and the battery seemed to be dying out. I bought a new battery for it but haven't used it this year. I also bought a Cygolite Expilion 850. I love the lack of wires and the ability to use for almost a week before it seems to be loosing power. (at least during the summer) I have not been running it on solid like I would during the Dark ages times of the year. We are close to that time...now.

Not the best... perhaps for you! Remember, I am pairing it with another light so I am sure I have my bases covered. I have seen this light work now a lot and it works wonders. Lights up a street like Christmas. Paired with my other lightening system, I think all will be well. My current front light is a little dim but I've had it for about 7 years now.

And no tail light.
