I idly considered making a fake mace, with a spiky ball made out of styrofoam spray painted a metallic colour, attached to a 1" dowell and mounted on the rear rack sticking out to the left, 18' into traffic. I figured they'd give a wide berth to avoid the chance of scratching their car.

I might try to find some sort of hiz viz stick I can attach to my bike that produces a similar effect, because it seems the chance of scratching their car is enough to deter bad passes, while the risk of killing someone ironically isn't.
