The early morning temps. are sometimes brutal! What I'm thinking of using are ECW boots. (A.K.A. Bunny Boots.) I think they are rated at -30F or below. I doesn't get that cold here in Boulder but I was wondering, do they make good Winter Commuter shoes?

One tip I tried recently is to wrap some aluminum foil around the front part of your foot. It's a great insulator! Just be sure to wrap the foil in between a couple of layers of saran wrap because the foil tends to shred up quite a bit

I noticed that if I wear my PI AmFib tights, my feet are warmer than if I wear other tights. I wear sobike benk winter pants over the tights in cold weather. I use garneau high vis winter shoe covers as well below 40F. When desperate, I wear foam socks, but very sweaty then.

I use lake 302 winter boots with good results by themselves down to about 25 F.

If I need more protection I use plastic bags (2-4 per foot depending on how cold and how much wind) on the outside of the boot held in place with rubber bands. This works really well, is cheap, and they are recyclable.

When conditions get worse I use my Neo Overshoes that I insert my Lake 302 boots into (now wearing 2 pair of boots).

When the worst conditions are are here I use the Lake winter boots, Neo Overshoes and turn my Hotronics foots warmers on that are already installed in my Lake Boots. My feet are always warm in any conditions!

I have the Columbia Bugaboot, which is lightweight, super warm, and I love it.

Mine must be a women's version, which I can't find on Columbia's site. My boot looks similar to the picture, but it has purple laces. It's also great for snowshoeing.
