Milder commute to work this morning, 0C/32F and getting milder through the day with forecasts of showers. Fortunately, my wife will be delivering the car to me later today so I can throw my bike in the back saving me from riding home in the wet. Tomorrow will be cooler so it will be a dry commute in both directions.

It's November 28th, I live in South Dakota, and I wore shorts for the ride to work this morning. How crazy is that?

43°F with a 15 mph mostly cross wind. Overcast so I had my light on the whole way to work. But overall a pretty nice ride.

I hear you [MENTION=29263]tundra[/MENTION] Man, 49 here in NW Indiana, windy but what the heck- jumped on the road bike and turned a 3.1 mile commute into 14.

People say the strangest things
 

A co-worker stopped me in the hall to ask if I'm on a different bike today, because as he said "I usually see you on a mountain bike"! I haven't used a mountain bike since a couple of weeks in 2010, but I just rolled with it saying I had several and taking the opportunity to bore him with some bike talk :roflmao2:

Mistaken identity since I've taken to commuting in my work clothes lately in this cool weather, and he probably doesn't even recognize me with my usual roadie garb. It's just funny to think about, that I'm incognito on the bike most of the time.

[MENTION=227213]wphamilton[/MENTION], I'm amazed at how many people (that I don't know!) recognize me because I come in wearing cycling clothes. I can rarely recognize cyclists when they've got "normal" clothes on -- I guess I get distracted by bright helmets and jerseys, or sunglasses.


Another frosty morning today, but still and mostly quiet, so it was a good ride. The excitement came before I left the house -- a large hawk in the back yard had a squirrel in its talons. The dog (my sister's King Charles spaniel?) was going nuts, but we didn't want her to become fast food seconds, so she had to stay in.

The mornings are starting to get cold. My rides home are in the 50's which is PERFECT. But the mornings are starting to be around 35 or so.

I can't get much colder than that. I love biking but I HATE cold. I usually put the bike away for January and February when mornings can be 5 degrees outside.

But for right now I LOVE commuting in my work clothes, show up to the office, taking off my jacket and being ready to go. No sweating. No need to change when I get here. The cool air smashing into my eyeballs waking me up so I'm not a zombie until 10am...great time to ride!

Tired again this morning on the road bike, 15 miles took 79 minutes moving time. Despite the short week last week I still managed to break 100 miles for the week, with a 25 mile ride around town on Sunday afternoon. At 329 miles, I'm way over my November miles total from last year (226), but way down from my September and October totals of over 500 miles each month. If I commute tomorrow and Thursday as well, I'll break 400 for this month, but that will depend on whether we get any rain and how tired I am.

I felt a bit sad today for all the cagers missing out

I got 3 miles from home this morning and my NDS crank arm fell off. I found the arm and pedal in the dark, but the arm fixing bolt was MIA. I got it back on with the other bolts. It fell off one more time before I got to work. LBS near work didn't have the bolts in stock. It fell off once on the ride home in the middle of a busy intersection. I guess I'll be riding the road bike for the next week or so. I hope it doesn't snow.

My first commute since the time change. The first week of November I was on work travel, the second my wife was on vacation in So Cal, and the third was Thanksgiving. I'd have ridden Monday, but was sick enough not to want to take the kiddo in his kid seat. Today pretty much back to normal. It rained an inch on Sunday so it was perhaps too soon to take the MTB but I'm not sure how many chances I'll have in the winter time wet and dark so might as well capitalize on them. Had fun! No heart problems today, that's rare and welcome.

Pretty mild this morning. Bright stars. No wind.

Almost hit two deer that were standing right in the middle of my lane. I slowed down and yelled at them, and they moved.

Then my rear tire went flat. I was about a mile from the station, and my train would be there in five minutes or less, so I knew I'd miss that one. Patched my tube by a street light. I didn't find the cause, was pleased to get the tire back on without seating troubles, pumped it up and rode away.
Sure enough, having missed the 5:13 express, I caught the 5:30 local instead.

My first day riding in about over a week and did I miss it. Last week we drove to MI to spend Thanksgiving with my son and his wife, we also brought my daughter with us, and that was nice.

It was a nice uneventful commute in today with the temp at a warm 44 f degrees and partly cloudy skies. Unlike yesterday where a dog ran in front of my car and I had to hit the brakes as not to hit the dog. I typically do not see dogs on my ride to work but I saw two unleashed dogs yesterday.

Rough week.. off work all last week and there was no riding. NE brutal wind this morning and 46. Close to 3k for the year.. my goal has always been to start driving on Wednesday once I hit 3k and I'm looking forward to it!

39F - a good 10 degrees warmer over the previous two mornings. And we may hit 70F this afternoon! It's been mostly clear and no wind lately too - great riding weather.

I received the same mirror from my son the other day (a 5-month belated birthday gift, :lol: ) but I'm riding my MTB right now so I'll install it on my touring bike in the spring.

It is great mirror!

It only takes seconds to install or remove. I store it away during triathlon season because my aero-bars block the view. But otherwise it works great.

That's good news. A friend last summer also received a set of mirrors as a gift but every time she went over a little bump, they moved, I've heard good things about these ones staying put.

I have to retape my handlebars so I'll wait until the weather is warmer to install the mirrors and handlebar tap so the glue will stick better.
