Back to commuting today. Last week I could do only one day.
Today morning it was a bit chilly!
Speaking of sightings, I saw a few bunnies and a deer sprinting into the woods. The sprint was a sight to see!

Another pleasant uneventful commute this morning.

Yesterday's commute home was so nice. It was just the right temperature, not to hot yet not cold the air felt warm on my arms. I just want to ride in those conditions everyday!

Same here! Looks like we both are in the same region.
Yesterday's evening commute could have been a leeeeetle bit cooler though. Still, not a bad day at all.

We had a little thunderstorm come in right at 5pm yesterday. I managed to get about halfway home before it hit. I saw/heard two lightning flashes and thunder booms so headed for an underpass to wait it out. Ten seconds after getting under it the rain started. I waited for the worst of it to pass and then rode home in the lingering light rain. It cooled things off quite nicely and gave me a bit of a tailwind.

Quite warm and muggy this morning: 73F and 93% humidity. I actually hope for the afternoon showers to happen these days to keep the forecast high of 93F in check.

past couple days have been quite muggy. mgw4jc cool picture and glad you had a place to hide the worst of it out.

I have not been on here in a while but I have still be commuting. Tuesday for July 4th I rode with a friend 63 miles with 4393 ft of elevation gain. I rode up a mountain and saw 15% grade on my GPS. It was tough. My legs are tired but I have been still riding. I have been trying to dodge the thunderstorms this summer as well. it has been more challenging since I now get off earlier which seems to be when they hit. I have been pretty lucky so far though... we shall see.

enjoy the ride folks

A little warmer and rain. Hoping to dodge afternoon thunderstorms. I got honked at by a retirement home bus - just seemed wrong!

I replaced the worn out rear tire on my fixed gear, and while I was at it, replaced the chain too. I should have had the presence of mind at the bike shop to purchase a new cog too, 'cuz the new chain and old cog do not mesh well at all. So it will remain unridden until I replace the cog. Hopefully the chain ring is okay.

Rode my old steel Bianchi today, which is a lovely bicycle and doesn't get enough miles. Perfect riding weather this morning.

I'm on vacation this week. Mostly it's been family stuff but for tomorrow I've rented a sweet Ibis MTB to ride in UC Santa Cruz and Wilder Ranch while my wife takes kiddo and the babies to the Monterey Bay aquarium.

Another storm at 5pm yesterday. This one was worse and longer than Wednesday's. It started before I could leave, so I waited under the front awning of the building (more like a front porch) with a co-worker who often rides his motorcycle to work. We waited until about 5:30 for the lightning, thunder and heavy rain to move on before leaving. It was still raining lightly when I left, but was after I was about 2 miles into my ride. There were quite a few tree branches and other debris to dodge on the roads.

Muggy and hot this morning for a good 15 mile ride. I tried to slow down and cool off some on the last couple of miles.

Too tired to ride yesterday, so I had to drive. Pleasant ride this morning, mid-70s even if the humidity was 100%. Thunderstorm came through at dawn but stopped before I rolled.

Went through the woods listening for the wood thrush (no luck), but there was a rufous-sided towhee and meadowlark in the meadow in addition to the usual crows, cardinals, and mockers.

Warm (17C/63F, hmmmf, that doesn't really sound too warm does it but a warmer morning ride than it has been in months) and muggy, I was a puddle of sweat when I arrived at work. I didn't push too hard as I was still sore from my leg strengthening exercises I had done Tuesday night so I expected a slow ride but in fact, it was surprisingly quick (for me), 25kph/16mph so I'm happy and my legs feel reasonable.

Have a great weekend everyone!

To add to the animal sightings, I saw a snapping turtle at the side of the road earlier this week. I wasn't sure if it wanted to cross or had just finished crossing as it was across the road from the lake but because it was a snapping turtle, I wasn't going to be a nice guy and carry it across the road (a Blandings turtle I would have, snapper, no!). And besides, moving across the road may have been the opposite direction it wanted to go anyway.

Warm drizzle this morning, strange that it looked like rain in my headlight but I didn't feel it hitting my body. Shirt was pretty wet when I got to the station. Riding was pleasant, but getting on the train with a wet shirt isn't ideal.

Dry and perfect weather again! I don't remember the last rainy commute!
(Although in the winter i think it will never dry out.)
New (to me) bike is running smooth and great. Loving the commutes!

First day riding to work in a couple of weeks. 80 this morning, with about 60% humidity. It may be a very sweaty ride home this afternoon with forecasted 97 degrees. Heat index is supposed to be 105! Next week is supposed to be pushing 100 all week! Oh boy!

May have to find a beer on the way home!
