Lucky you! I got drenched! The first mile or so was just cloudy so I kept going. Then a few raindrops and then a steady drizzle. I had a windcheater in my backpack but I was already wet, so saw no point in stopping to put it on.
On a positive note, the Timbuk2 backpack kept my office clothes nice and dry!
Now I am hoping my shoes dry out a little before the ride back home

73F + 73F dew point + 99% humidity = SWEAT!

But I would still rather ride than drive.

At least you get a little breeze down hill? Similar conditions here. Was 70F but just rained earlier in the morning. So pretty muggy but I'll definately take the cool temp. Also rode in from home again today. Am avoiding my crappy car with the broken seat. So bike it is! Will be taking it to the mechanic on Thursday.

It's amazing that fire in Victoria is sending smoke to Edmonton over 1,200 km away!

I'm taking a break from the bike today. Walking helps me stretch.

Forecast was for rain later on today. I woke up to a light rain already falling. Took the hybrid with fenders.

I'll be curious if the rain gets heavier later today or if the system just showed up early.

Actually, there are fires all over BC. There are some within 500 km of Edmonton, near Banff, and around Kamloops, which is about 600 km away as the crow flies.

Being this far away means that the smoke doesn't last long - nice and clear today. Chilly (10C/50F) and a little breezy, wished I had gloves at first, but then I turned and the wind was behind me and the chill didn't bother me anymore.

A co-worker commented this morning, "I see you swam in to work in this humidity." That about nailed it, dark overcast, damp, but not drizzling (yet).

Then to top it off the gym where I shower didn't have towel service this morning. That's a luxury, sure, but if they'd just emailed the users' mailing list, I could have brought my emergency towel. As it was, I ended up wiping myself with the sodden jersey. Bleah.

And just when I think I've seen it all... a guy passed me this morning and he was standing on the pedals, because his bike had no seat. On purpose. There was a pipe affixed to the seatpost going horizontally front to back. OK, whatever

There's an old guy on my route who rides a lever bike. He has to stand on the levers and press down on them alternately. I see him almost every day, often both morning and evening. I get the impression he is retired and rides up and down the river all day long. There is no place for him to sit on his bike.

I once ran into him in the bike shop on Dyckman St which is the northern end of the Hudson River Greenway. Next time I run into him, I'll see if I can spark a conversation.

I woke up at 4:15 to the sound of rain falling. That's when my alarm usually goes off; but today it was set for 4:40 so I went back to sleep. When I got up at 4:40 the rain had stopped, and I got to the station more or less dry (as dry as you can expect in August).

Quiet commute this morning, which was nice as I actually have to travel some very high traffic streets. Made the entire commute to work in just 24 minutes (5.3 miles).

I see a guy on one of those bikes from time to time on our MUP. It looks like an eliptical machine on wheels. I suppose it's a good solution for someone with a tailbone issue that can't sit in conventional saddles.

For someone like me, it just looks like too much work.

For some, too much work is just the right amount. Don't you have people think you're either crazy or Superman for riding a BICYCLE all the way to work? And back? Like every day?

I agree. I was just jabbing at myself for being lazier than that guy.

OK, now that's ridiculous. And you ride across the tundra!

It's like those stand-up paddle boards... like trying to kayak on a surfboard, but harder and slower than a kayak and none of the thrill of a surfboard. I don't get it.

I ride a bike so that I can sit on my ass while exercising. I paddle in a kayak or canoe so that I can sit on my ass while exercising. I work as a computer programmer so I can sit on my ass while working. There's a theme here...

Sorry you got drenched! That is unfortunate.

Though today was another nice uneventful commute. I took a different route in as I was thinking I was going to make a stop at the house that sells vegetables but I realized along my ride that 6:10 in the am might be a little early to stop at the house. I will stop on my ride home today to see if she has tomatoes and cucumbers.

Almost got run over by a deer this morning. I guess I spooked it as it was foraging on the side of the road and it started to turn left into me. Just as I was having a flash of going OTB and breaking a collarbone it swerved back to the right and disappeared into the woods.
And then the three-lane highway I have to travel on for a short distance was unusually busy for 5:50 in the morning and I lost my nerve and walked along the side. Which I understand is arguably more dangerous, but I just was not comfortable riding that stretch today.
On the plus side, a headwind + light rain + darkness + wildlife encounters made me feel like a real cyclist this morning . Y'all have a good day!

I had a faster than normal average speed this morning for no particular reason: 16.8mph. Normal is closer to 16 or just under. Still plenty humid and sticky out.

A pleasant mid 60s weather with clear skies and mist on the fields.
Tomorrow morning it will be mid 50s in the morning and cross 80 in the evening. Will need to carry a lighter jersey for the commute back home tomorrow.

Rain again this morning.

Received this forecast for today: "From NWS: Isolated strong to severe storms will be possible across eastern portions of the region today, with hail to the size of half dollars and wind gusts up to 60 mph being the greatest threats in these areas. Storms could also produce locally heavy rainfall, and locations which received heavier rains on Tuesday will need to monitor for isolated flooding."

Of course, it happens on a day when I have to leave work several times to run a handful of errands. Looks like it may get interesting.

73 degrees and 92% humidity this morning! Looking forward to Fall! But, I got out of the house a little early again and didn't have to hurry. Forgot my water bottle so was very thirsty by the time I got to work! Then found out I forgot my wallet too! Going to have to scrounge for change to get a bottle of water for the ride home! Hmmm ... did I remember to grab the house key before I left today?!

Low 70's with just under 90% humidity this morning. 25 minutes for my commute this morning. I had a couple of cars pass me way too close coming up to an intersection and trying to move over to avoid the right turn only lane. I really hate that.
