I backed the Orphos Flare lights which were supposed to be delivered I think in March? I am so ready for them to be delivered. Anyone else back them ? If they do everything they say they will it could change my riding... making me even more visible/ safer. Anyone else waiting?

Welcome to Kickstarter. I treat Kickstarter as it was originally intended to be used - to back people with good ideas, not as a preorder system.

I think even now, there's no actual guarantee that you'll receive anything. That's why they're called "rewards" not "orders"

You give them money, they are able to work on bringing a product to market. As a reward, they MIGHT ship you whatever the thing in your reward bracket is.

I almost always eventually get what I ordered, though often it's VERY late, and I think in every case where they couldn't get to market, I've gotten my money back (the last one was Pebble 2). But legally they could just take your money and walk.

Indiegogo, OTOH, is a complete crap shoot. It's generally what you use when all you have is ideas, and no clue how to actually make it work. Anyone who has an actual working prototype and a good business plan would be using Kickstarter instead.

Interesting. I'm more interested in the red than the white, as for the front I would prefer a focused beam just where I need it. Since red is a be-seen light, all-direction visibility and crazy brightness is an asset.

But at $64 now vs suggested msrp $75 later, I'm not gonna jump on the KS.

I think it's an interesting concept to divorce the light from the power source, and let the user customize with whichever/however many commodity USB power banks they want.

I think they're planning to hand deliver all of them just as soon as their fleet of Elios shows up.

I am backed for a front and a rear. I am really now just looking for the back here in the almost summer time. I would have loved to have both back in the dark ages..


I like the idea of getting batteries as well. I just have to convince the wife of what battery pack and how to rig it up on the bike that doesn't look terrible.

still waiting on these lights. Sure is dark. so disappointed in the communication and lack of light production... I think we/I have learned my Kickstarter lesson.

Just get some Hotshot Pro 80's or 150's, or Bontrager Flare R's.

Just looked at the Kickstarter. Daytime tail light only with no adjustable brightness settings. And you'd have to carry an external power bank to power it. That would be a no-go for me. I need compact lights with their own batteries. They say the tail light should be used in daylight only, but then all their photos and videos show it being used at night. Stupid.

Exactly what I don't want to see on an on-road bicycle. Off-road maybe, but there's too much light pollution already.

First person that uses one over here will have an issue with a motorist. Guaranteed.

Hey, I remember this light! By Kickstarter standards, they're not super late, I think they just overpromised. Promising a delivery date just a month after the end of the funding period is pretty much impossible. The last one I backed was the Knog Oi (yeah, it sits in a drawer now) and they were about 2 months off of the initial delivery date, despite being a massive, already-established company that raised a million dollars in a month.

I've also had one fail to meet it's funding goal, and one completely self-destruct during development-- I'm out a whole $26. This is how crowdfunding works-- risk for reward. Thankfully, it's not like we bought tickets to Fyre Festival.

Go on Amazon and buy a Cygolite for $20 in the meantime.

I know I know. I think it is adjustable in the brightness. I thought I read 10 different settings. I already have Cygolites front and rear. just looking for some more light. I found a small battery pack on amazon yesterday. I am not sure I will like the separate battery pack but I like the almost 360 degrees of light. makes me more visible. I think. it will be interesting to test it out in my riding environment. EVENTUALLY.

I supported this (a different Kickstarter project) and it just arrived. I'm impressed with the final product and it took so long that it was like a gift to myself that I forgot about

yeah my wife is totally against any more kickstarters. backed three things so far and only one has shown up and been useful. It did not exceed my expectations though.

I was quite pleased as I love brutalist architecture. My time is dwindling these days, so I wanted to get some ideas about where to visit and it was cheap (Ģ19 or so.) It's nice book and a good size (landscape A5). Good photography as well. Can't complain. I think 15 updates as well.

If a cyclist or jogger blinds me with one of these from the opposite side of a MUP I will have no choice but to crash them out.
