I have to make a small comment, here.

I originally intended this thread to be a humorous opportunity for cyclists (like me) who love cycling and despise traffic jams and smog to dream a little. After all, a hungry person doesn't dream about peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, but about steak dinners and fancy deserts.

I'm not sure why some of us didn't sieze the chance to jump in and dance to the music. Somehow, all that was heard was, "No cars!" and folks started arguing about feasability of a car-free society.

Sigh. Guess I'll have to dream alone!

By the way, I was drawn into all this arguing as much (or more) than anyone else.

My bad. I get carried away sometimes. I didn't bike-commute in today so I'm a little grumpy, you know?!?!?

Ah - there it is, you see! If there were no cars you would have bike-commuted and been in a better mood!

That's no excuse. When I was at university, I used to commute, visit the gym and help a friend manually remove banana trees from his backyard all in one day. And I used to do it often.

Now get off your ass, man!

Quite an enthralling dream to be sure. But alas, government would jump in. Would it not?

Destination charges, tax licence and registration additional. Air pump taxes at $.02 per pound. And on and on and on.

Somehow, the government would get their fees per mile.

Jeez, at 40+ years old, I have to choose between one or the other activity !! It was basketball that day. Actually had a lot of fun varying the exercise routine.

Ten years ago I woulda done both. 20 years ago, I woulda also removed banana trees, too, except that there are none where I am. Maybe oak trees instead.

I just had to bring this thread to the top, because I tripped over the answer today on the web.

It might look much like this.
