Stood up

One of our project managers at my work asked me this week if I was willing to get some overtime on Saturday for 4-8 hours. I'm the junior guy in our lab and the only one with a new baby and a mortgage (most of them make 3 times my salary, have homes paid off, and kids have moved out) so I'm the one they tap for overtime. It's appreciated by me.

Long story short(ish) version: Daughter crying cause I'm leaving, wife mad cause I'm leaving, big storm, flash flood warnings, 20+ mph winds, branches in road, then the guards wouldn't let me on post because "The base is only open for employees actually working on Sat, not joyriders". Finally convinced them that I also ride to work Mon-Fri and that the trunk bag with chinos, collared shirt, turkey sandwich and thermos of coffee isn't usually taken on training rides. I think.

Anyways, I get to work and it's a ghost town. The contractors from out of state that I was supposed to support aren't here. I got stood up. If they're all hung over in their hotel rooms I'm gonna be pissed.

EDIT: The ride was awsome. No cars in sight. I had to ride on opposite side of empty roads to get around huge streams running through the street.

Hey thanks! She gets her looks from her mother. Maybe kid #2 will get more than eye color and hair from me. Then again, I'm no model so let's hope for the best. As far as work goes, I'm going to put some hours down on my time sheet and see if anyone challenges it. Those guys really got me on this one.

If you go in for anything, I always thought 4 hrs was the minimum.

I know that's what I get paid for if I go in on a saturday and only have 2hrs of work.

I made some phone calls and looks like they aren't showing up. Guess I'll be shoving off. Thanks for letting me vent. You guys are the $h1t!!!! My time card now says: Saturday March 11, 2006 Other, Overtime Weekend 4.0 Hrs. I'll just have to check it again Monday afternoon and see if it's flagged. Later!

I hope the "security" guards and contractors get their heads handed to them. There is no excuse for any of that.

Glad the ride was good.
