I did it!!
Okay, so my work is only about 10 miles away, and with only one major hill, but I left the car home and rode the Cannondale instead!! Granted, I was going in for over-tiime so I didn't have to be there at a specific time, but who cares!!
I just felt like sharing cuz it just feels sooooooooo good! Happy riding everyone!! Happy Mother's Day!!

PS So I guess I have to ride home too?

Excellent!
Keep it up..hills do get easier but they're still hills! You'll start feeling better and miss the time you can't ride in.
Think of the money you're saving (your health too) and it'll get you up the hills..
Figure out how much the bus/subway would cost and that bike will pay for itself in no time..the rest is gravy..

Welcome to the HHCMF Club (Happy, Healthy Commuting Mutha F'ers). We take pride in showing off our well muscled legs and tight butts to friends and co-workers, using the money we save on gas and transit to buy cool stuff for our bikes like raccoon tails and grips w/ tassles, and only slightly embellishing our exciting tales of heroism and derring-do as we ride our trusty steeds to and from work surrounded by maniacal impotent death squads in SUVs.

[ So I guess I have to ride home too]
I have just started riding my bike to work. A BIG 6/10 of a mile.
but the last 2/10 is a killer hill for me, at least I thought so.
I did the big no-no and bought a Moongoose at wally mart.
When I tryer to shift down for the hill it went into nuetrol and went to a stop.
so I had to push it up the hill, tryed for 3 days on the 3rd ride home I tryed to up shift
to see how fast I could go down the hill if I pedeled. Coasting I hit the bottom at 17 mph.
The chain broke. I could either push it 3/10 miles home or 3/10 up the hill to my van and take back to Wally and tell him what to do with it. I chouse the latter I put me in the right mood to take it back.
Next day I went to the local bike store and bough a Trek Navigator 50.
I made up that wimppy little hill, I was huffing and puffing but I made it and it is getting easyer each time.
It's been almost 50 years since I 've ridden a bike. But I thike I am going to like it.
Today after I go home I went back out and rode another 1.5 miles, next week who knows.

The ride to work is great, especially since we're allowed to wear casual clothes right now. What is gettin' to me whenever I ride anywhere, is my ride back home since I live on a hill. Oh well, guess it's just good training!
