That must be quite a hill.

Bikes: Three road bikes. Two track bikes.

22 miles in - in 1 hour, 5 minutes
24 miles back - 1 hour, 30 min (big hill to get home, slightly different route to avoid even bigger hill.)

[QUOTE=Eggplant Jeff]You guys are freaks! 20 mph average speeds on your commute?!

I'm lucky to make 11 mph! My commute's 11 miles and it usually takes right around an hour. Even if it were perfectly flat I'd probably do not much better than 14-15mph. I would plan on at least 2 hours, .................

and I thought I was the only one who is slooow.....

I am 41, not athletic at all. no other sport activities before I was 40.
one and a half year of cycling commuting and these are the notes:
18km/h average speed. never exceeds 20km/h
average weekly distance: 90km.

17.5 hilly miles. Average time is one hour 10 minutes +/-. 2 to 3 times per week. Ride my single speed for one commute.

Goals are to beat the one-hour mark, and ride the single speed every day.

I'm in the slow crowd. 23 miles takes me about 1:50 at 13 mph. Hoping to increase the speed a bit with a different bike in the near future. My ride is a mix of bike path, open road and neighborhoods with some small hills each way. I need a good half hour once at work to cool down and clean up.

10 miles each way. Takes about 35 mins going in and 45 going home. Dang headwind from the bay in the evenings make the ride home really interesting. I guess i get a free hill for that one
