Yet another "which tire?" thread.

Yet another "which tire?" thread.
Currently I ride two of these tires (https://www.amazon.com/Cheng-Shin-C12...A7RTAC/sr=1-2/) and they are really good. The front and rear both have a few 1/4" cuts in the casing however due to heavy use. I don't think the tread will *ever* wear out, but I'm starting to get mystery flats in the front and I think its time for new tires.
I am considering two of these:

They are about the same price and they look quite a bit more agressive.
Why the change? Well, I am trying to turn my bike into more of an "adventure" bike that is equally at home on a century as it is on a fire road or even mild single track. Mind you its a fixed gear right now but it will soon be a 3 speed. Its never going to be a mountain goat (and neither am I
) but I want something a bit more versatile.
Both tires are rated to 65 psi although I currently run my tires a bit higher than that for commuting.
Do you folks have any suggestions? My budget is about $30 for both tires.

Consider Conti Town & Countrys or Serfas Drifters too.

My local Krogers equivalent has similar looking tires (Bell) in a 26X1.75 for $7-10 (often on sale)
You might look around and save S&H. A little less weight to push around too!
I have one on my front for those couple fall months when the bike lanes are full of leaves or leaf "slush".

Those new tires looka lot more knobbly, so if you ride on road you'll feel more resistance. If you're mainly off-road then hey whatever works. The first pair seem pretty ok to me. Are you replacing them just because they've had a good innings, or are you unsatisfied with them?

I had a 26x1.5 Drifter. I had no problem with it except the annoying "popping" sound when riding on a wet street. I guess it was air getting trapped and then released. It kind of sounded like a "different" type of air release to me.

I think I am going to give the new tires a shot, but I'm going to buy the kevlar belted ones for a couple of dollars more. That seems like it would be worth it.
Thanks for all of the input, I really appreciate it.

For $30/set,I'd go with Michelin Transworld Citys. You can get them in 1.5 and 1.95",they roll decent,do ok on trails and in snow, have puncture protection, and have snazzy reflective sidewalls. They're usually like $18 each, but I've seen them on sale for $13-15.

Well I wasn't going to resurrect a dead thread but.....
I pulled the trigger on the Forte Versa Trac/K last night. I ordered them from Amazon.com though, since they are local and also since I had a couple of bucks from an old gift cert. Their shipping was cheaper, too. Got two tires shipped to my house for $27.30. Not bad for $22 in tires. I got the ones with Kevlar so that I won't get so many flats hopefully.
The problem got worse when last night I went to check on my bike, and BOTH tires were flat! One had a huge puncture in the tube, with *nothing* to show for it in the tire casing. I also checked and it was NOT a pinch flat or a problem with the rim strip. *Most Definitely* time for new tires

Not to rain on your parade, but you could have had them for $22 from Performance bike. (free shipping till the 23rd) What's $5! You've got your tires!
Those look like they should be decent for pavement. A bit heavy, but if you want traction on dirt, there is a weight penalty.

I don't know, I tested the order through performance and it came up $29. I'm happy either way.
The tires I have right now are *very* heavy and I am used to them. The new ones won't be any heavier, I don't think.
