And you call yourselves bikers? But if I had $17,000 burning a hole in my pocket, I might drop that for Dave Stoler's *Masi! ;) Ciao Mama, ciao Papa! *which I might be inclined to call "Stolen"! |
With it's current setup I'm referring to it as "3-Speed Death"

"Night Train" - (The James Brown version of the song)
I can practically ride this bike in my sleep and my old freewheel made a horrible train-like clacking noise. It always gets me there on time. http://velospace.org/files/crosschecktreesmall.jpg |
I had just been refering to it as "the Trek," but I'm considering calling it Mr. Barky von Schnauser.

What size is it? I think they came in two sizes. 26 inch wheels/small frame, and 27 inch wheels/larger frame..... Construction was different on the large frames. Little stuff though... The pedals are death in the rain. slippery as a block pedal with no blocks. They level themselves though, unless you have toe clips. It throws the balance off. The achilles heel of them, and it's a big one....The crown race fits loosely on the steerer, and is made of stamped sheet metal to boot. Not stellar for a bike that even had it's own TV commercial...,,,,BD http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...r/aeroside.jpg http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n.../aerocrank.jpg http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n.../aerodrive.jpg |

I ride "The Pig", my heavy, steel mtb that is absolutely unstoppable, or my "sports car", my '06 Raleigh Grand Sport. Of course the sports car moniker was much more true when I still had my supercourse.
The Pig is now the bike that lives at work and is more often ridden by one of my staff when they don't feel like taking the bus. Its nice to know that they follow my lead in riding to work. I now have 3 part time commuters that work for me. |

Not the kind of guy you want to get mixed up with.

My 1970s Dawes FG/SS conversion is "Moonshadow".
The ebike that I built for warm weather commuting is "The MonkeyRocket 2000". (photo at www.captmonkeyrocket.com) My Bianchi San Jose (cool weather commuter) is "Charlotte". (Rhymes with "harlot"). My 1985 Vitus that I have well over 10,000 miles on doesn't have a name. It's part of me. I don't think we ever named our 1984 Santana Arriva tandem. Never saw the Pee Wee movie. |
